Mumbai Indians - #BestOfTheBest

All this Archer news brings a rough memory Hardik getting back in same match after what looks a very serious injury.

Surely Ambani can make Bumrah-Archer from this season.

Can we have some simplicity over being a little too fancy?
We don't do that here anymore. Tbh, I loved the blue camo, a bit too much gold there...

Losing Malinga to Royals was something I consider as a loss for us. However, Bond hasn't done any bad to our bowling over the years. Having someone like Malinga could've been huge though!

Missing the match winning depth like before.

:bat: Rohit Sharma
:wkb: Ishan Kishan :wk:
:ar: Tilak Verma / Devald Bravis :os:
:bat: Suryakumar Yadav
:ar: Kieron Pollard :os:
:ar: Tim David :os: / Fabian Allen :os:
:ar: Sanjay Yadav / Mohd. Arshad Khan
:ar: Daniel Sams :os: / Basil Thampi
:bwl: Jasprit Bumrah / Jaidev Unadkat (Back up)
:bwl: Mayank Markande / Murugan Ashwin
:bwl: Tymal Mills / Riley Meredith :os:

Some major glitches in the line up for me,

- No decent back up for Ishan Kishan.
If God forbid Kishan gets injured, we have to rely on an unheard uncapped Aryan Juyal for Keeping duties. This time around they don't even have someone like Aditya Tare by their side.

- No back up for Rohit Sharma.
If Sharma takes a hit, we are fukked. The next best batsman we got it Anmolpreet Singh. We come from World Class Player to a Local Untested Lad.

- Too much pressure on Pollard and SKY in the middle.
With no Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya to come later, SKY and Pollard might not be able to play as freely as they used to for the last 3 seasons. Lone Tim David will have to prove with his knocks to bring that confidence.

- Number 3 Conundrum

May it be Tilak Verma or Devald Brevis, number 3 spot looks very ordinary right now. A rookie is seemed being sandwiched between mega-star packed players. Too much pressure on thay number 3.

- Team Balance
What Hardik and Krunal used to do at 6 and 7, will be missed for sure. Two people who can bat and bowl. One can bat crazy and other can bowl with confidence. Tough combination to crack with less probability with the current squad.

- Where are the reliable spinners?
Seriosuly where is atleast one realiable world class spinner? Your best bet is Markande or M Ashwin? Really? God what will we do on the DY Patil and Pune pitches.

- Overseas counterpart partner to Bumrah
With Archer coming in the squad next year, none of the current quicks, match the calibre of Boult or Malinga. Someone of that stature is missing this year. Tymal Mills can be looked upon, but it will majorly depend on his form.

I don't know what people think about the team balance but they have literally got a gun batting line-up does MI!!

Rohit
Kishan
SKY
Tilak Varma
Kieron Pollard
Tim David

The amount of destruction these guys together can cause is just insane!

Sky yet to return.

Form of Polly and David restricting the slogging at death

I'm not quite sold on David the player yet. Pollard seems like he is in terminal decline. Feel like they need a high quality all-rounder for next season in place of Pollard. A shame that Neesh got away, he could have been worth an extended run.

This is what I am thinking. They need someone to take over Pollard to let that smooth transition happen.

On to David, it's pretty much a new challenge for him to play in the IPL. Also, I don't think he has played enough in conditions where spinners can run the game.

From what I saw in the game against the Capitals, David has got enormous power to clear the ropes. And he does it quite comfortably too! I think we can still think of batting him ahead of Pollard for few games and see where he heads.

Considering we won't be having mega auctions next season we can look ahead to MI having this line-up

Rohit Sharma
Ishan Kishan
SKY
Tilak Varma
Tim David
Kieron Pollard
?? (A local all-rounder will do a world of good)
Jofra Archer
Murugan Ashwin
Jasprit Bumrah
Tymal Mills/Meredith

Sam Curran for the left arm dibbly dobblers and late over slogging. Or Ben Stokes.

Sam Curran is certainly the one MI would eye in future but not too sure if someone like Stokes sits well with their plans. They have a lot of players who would bat out the innings and go hard in the late overs. Infact, they need someone who can go hard from the word go.

Stokes is possibly the most overrated middle-order T20 batsman at the moment.

Sam Curran would be lovely though, a rich man’s Daniel Sams if you will.
