The Super Cup

That was a one man super show from Guptill. Hopefully our Batsman are able to chase that score.. Well done to the bowlers

Great bowling performance, could’ve been better if we had got Guptill. Would back us to chase it easily though.

What a knock that by Guptil! One man show all the way and if not for him we would have to bury our heads in shame. Sundar played a crucial knock down the order too. It is a challenging total now and I hope our bowlers rescue us as they have done so earlier so many times.

Rajasthan Royals finish with a respectable 257 in spite of a disciplined bowling performance from Lahore Qalandars, courtesy of Martin Guptill's painstakingly determined 132 not out. Not only did he form the backbone of Rajasthan's innings, single-handedly contributing to more than 50% of his team's runs, but he also carried his bat and joined a unique list of individuals with this record. Suryakumar Yadav seemed to be in great touch before his innings was abruptly brought to a screeching halt by Shahnawaz Dahani. Washington Sundar's lower-order provided crucial runs for Rajasthan, but more importantly, gave Martin Guptill the license to play a lot more freely than he was with the middle-order. But apart from the aforementioned, no other Rajasthan batter intimidated Lahore's bowlers.

Lahore jolted Rajasthan upfront with Mitchell Starc delivering a lethal new ball spell to dismiss David Warner and Narayan Jagadeesan for peanuts, reducing them to 15/2. Ambati Rayudu adopted an overly cautious approach to stop the fall of wickets, which proved to be quite fruitful for the team even if it resulted in Ambati Rayudu mustering up a grand total of 19 runs in 40 deliveries. It did stabilize Rajasthan's innings after their new ball quandary. Mitchell Starc, Shahnawaz Dahani, Usman Qadir and Haris Rauf, all picked-up two wickets apiece with remarkable economies, whereas Faheem Ashraf and Ben Stokes claimed one each.

Calm heads prevail thus far. Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf have done a remarkable job in stabilizing Lahore's innings after back-to-back setbacks that could've very well led to a collapse. With 60 deliveries left in the innings, Lahore Qalandars need just 39 more runs to win.

Expensive over from Washington Sundar... but it ends with a much-needed wicket for Rajasthan. Faheem Ashraf plays a needless shot after having already garnered 12 runs from the over, and ends up losing his wicket to a straightforward catch to Kagiso Rabada.

Out! Azam Khan is out! Azam Khan hit the first ball of Ravindra Jadeja's 7th-over for a six, only to have his defense be beaten thoroughly with a straighter ball. Lahore have a traditional Pakistani tail, so Rajasthan are very much in this now.

An enthralling contest comes to a close with Prasidh Krishna picking-up the final wicket, dismissing Shahnawaz Dahani to leave Lahore Qalandars hanging just 7 runs short of The Super Cup final. Now, Lahore Qalandars will have to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in a do-or-die game for a chance at a rematch against Rajasthan Royals. Scintillating contest, but what else would you expect from two sides, both of whom won their respective national tournaments in a Super Over contest. Two evenly matched teams known for their star-studded bowling lineups, but Rajasthan manage to pull through once more in a big-game situation.

Lahore Qalandars were put in a predicament early with their top-order mirroring Rajasthan Royals' debacle in the first innings. Lahore lost Saud Shakeel, Haider Ali and unfortunately Kane WIlliamson early on. Once more, it was the usual suspects, Kagiso Rabada and Shaheen Afridi dealing the damage. Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes put up a staggering 141-run partnership for the 4th-wicket, which saw both batter complete their fifties. Unfortunately for Lahore, both batters also perished within 9 deliveries of each other. Faheem Ashraf and Azam Khan steadied the ship after their dismissals to avoid a collapse, but ultimately succumbed to Rajasthan's hostility and lost their wickets as well. Rajasthan's spinners, Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in overpowering Lahore's lower-order and winning the battle against their tail. In the end, Lahore fell just 7 runs short of the target with Prasidh Krishna picking-up the final wicket. An enthralling contest between two champion sides, but one that was to be expected.

My gosh, my gosh!!! The way Morgan & Stokes were going, I thought it will be over in no time. Jadeja was being way too expensive! But how it turned and I am once again grateful to our bowlers who have once again got us out of the jail! One more game and we will lift that beautiful super cup trophy!

Top order collapsed way too easily. Could’ve tried and seen off Afridi and Rabada, which is what Morgan and Stokes did, Azam and Faheem too, to a lesser extent. We threw away wickets towards the end, could’ve done it in singles. Extremely disappointing loss.

Six... and out! Sunrisers Hyderabad were desperate for a breakthrough, and they have it! Ben Stokes and Azam Khan were looking in outrageous mood, but fortunately for Hyderabad, their partnership has come to a halt because Ben Stokes has holed out to Rashid Khan at deep mid-wicket. Crucial wicket.

Two wickets in the over for Matt Henry, he manages to save face (somewhat) after being taken for 72 runs in his 10.0 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad have done a fabulous job of restricting Lahore Qalandars in the final overs. Sensational death-bowling for the men in orange.

A lackluster finish to Qalandars' innings. They could only muster up 65 runs in the last 10.0 overs of their innings despite having 6 wickets in the bank. Sunrisers were sensational with their death-bowling even if they weren't able to win the battle during the middle-overs.

Lahore will be rueing the fact they could only score 65 runs in their final 10.0 overs despite being in such a commanding position, but credit where credit is due, Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled things back at the end with Rashid Khan leading the pack. The wrist-spinner from Nangarhar finished with 3 scalps to his name, topping the bowling chart for Hyderabad. Chama Milind and Sandeep Sharma were pretty effective too, with two wickets apiece. Matt Henry and Rahul Chahar on the other hand, were taken to the cleaners. Matt Henry did manage to save face by picking-up two wickets in his final over.

Lahore's innings was headlined by fifties from Haider Ali, Kane WIlliamson, Ben Stokes and Azam Khan. Coincidentally, those four were the only batters in Lahore's lineup to crack into double-figures. None of those batters could convert their fifties into a hundred, but they were just about sufficient in pushing Lahore to a formidable 297/9. Ahmed Shehzad mimicked Saud Shakeel's failure from the previous game, whereas Eoin Morgan failed to deliver after scoring a stoic fifty in the previous game. It was the same old, same old from Lahore's lower-order with Faheem Ashraf's failure being the most glaring drawback.

DÉJÀ VU - Mitchell Starc delivers a lethal blow in the very first over of the innings, yet again. Mitchell Starc makes Tilak Varma find a thin edge straight to the wicket keeper. Mitchell Starc dismissed David Warner in the first over of the innings in the previous game, in the exact same manner. Lahore Qalandars will be mighty happy if this ends up becoming a tradition.

WRECK-IT RAUF - Haris Rauf backs Sunrisers Hyderabad into a corner with a double-wicket maiden in his first over. He dismisses Rassie van der Dussen and Hanuma Vihari as Hyderabad lose their middle-order for peanuts in the space of three deliveries. A lot of heavy-lifting left to be done by Babar Azam and Rishabh Pant, two batters more than capable of pulling off the job.

Rashid Khan and Rahul Chahar have done well to stop the fall of wickets, but can they lead Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory? The order is tall, but Rashid Khan is definitely the man for the job.

Exceptional spell from Haris Rauf, and it comes to an end with a wicket in his final over. Rahul Chahar never really looked to threaten with the bat, but this wicket only serves to add more pressure on Rashid Khan.

WICKET-MAIDEN - Faheem Ashraf delivers a perfect 44th-over and all Rashid Khan can do is watch from the non-striker's end. Sunrisers Hyderabad's prospects of winning the game seem incredibly bleak at the moment, only a maddening turn of events can deny Lahore Qalandars a rematch against Rajasthan Royals.

That'll do it! That will rejuvenate Sunrisers Hyderabad! Rashid Khan makes mincemeat out of Mitchell Starc by walloping him for three colossal sixes in the exact same region over mid-wicket. Mitchell Starc is failing to find the yorker, and he will probably be tasked to bowl another pivotal over.

KHAN YOU BELIEVE IT - I can not believe it! Rashid Khan is wasting no opportunities! An expensive start to the over put Shahnawaz Dahani in the pressure cooker, but not only did he manage to pull things back, he nearly dismissed Rashid Khan, only for Haider Ali to grass a difficult but catch-able take. With forty runs required off the last twelve deliveries and Rashid Khan on-strike, Hyderabad will be looking to target the penultimate over. Especially if it is being bowled by Mitchell Starc.
