Two things that get on my goat:

1. The premier league being referred to as the EPL. I dont know why, it just annoys me, we dont hear La Liga being called SLL.

2. A football club being referred to as a product, just another sign of the way football is heading with too much money. It just shows how football clubs treat their supporters as customers rather than fans. It's not a product, it's a football club!

Sadly Phil, money runs football and it has become a product. The same could be about to happen to cricket too. It ginds my gears too, but the sad fact is that people who go to watch week in week out, don't bring in as much money as TV. So TV money always wins.

As an off-shoot, I think Man Utd were the first English club to recognise this and take advantage of it and that's the reason they have been so successful in recent years. So out of interest what would you have preferred? A club that continued to run as they did in the past or a club with loads of trophies?

I see your point, but honestly, I'd have preferred a proper football club, of course trophies are important, but the most important thing in football is the fans. Players will come and go, but fans are there forever through good times and bad times. Glazer changed that at United, and thats why I fully respect the guys at FC United. I couldn't leave United, but I can see why some people refused to give anymore money to them. The situation at United is a definition of what is wrong with football, Automatic Cup Scheme, rising ticket prices, lots of the prawn sandwich brigade and daytrippers. I hear older fans say how good it was watching United during the 70's and 80's, even though we didn't win much. I'd have liked to be around in those days, better atmosphere, standing and football being affordable enough to go and watch the team wherever they play.

Believe me it stared long before Glazer came on the scene. It's the reason Liverpool have been in the dulldrums for so long, they let Man Utd steal the mark business wise, while they continued to run as a good old fashioned club and by the looks of it, it costs a bloody lot of money to try and catch up. Would I rather Liverpool changed earlier? Yes, but then I'm not a regular there. But I see it happening with Cricket and do I want Kent to sell out? Like hell I do!

You're right, for many at United, the Glazers were just the final straw, I suppose it started when the club thought they could make the money with the success. I have no problems with the club trying to make a bit of money, but it should not be at the fan's expense.

I agree about cricket, I think its inevitable that it will happen and its already started to, with the IPL and the talks about a new cricket Premier League in England.
