Only a year and a half left for the World Cup. Yet, the situation in Pakistan hasn't improved even the least. Instead, it has taken turn for the worst. There, Taliban and the other terrorist outfits are becoming stronger and stronger as the days pass. The government and the Pakistani police force is doing nothing to stop them. God knows why! Suicide bomb attacks have now become a common thing there. These things are happening almost everyday. Terrorist organizations are regularly and openly, in front of everybody, holding rallies and meetings there- in these rallies they are openly abusing India and the different Western counries. So, should the WC 2011 be organized in Pakistan? What do you think? I think "NO". If we let them organize the WC, and then if something happens to our players who will take the responsibility?

is this your best attempt to bash Pakistan or you actually want to talk cricket.

I am not "bashing" Pakistan. Think logically. This is the reality.

Sri Lanka was just in that "reality" and they did just fine. If Pakistan doesn't get the WC than it should be held at a neutral venue.

also still 2 years till 2011 who knows whats gonna happen by then.

The situation in Sri Lanka was completely different. There, the Sri Lankan army was gradually driving out the terrorists from their country. The terrorists were losing their powers, not "gaining" them. But the situation in Pakistan is just the opposite. There the terrorists are "gaining" powers, not "losing" them, as the days are passing.

I said Sri Lanka was just in that "reality" meaning in Pakistan.

I think if you want a country to get fully prepared for a mega tournament like the WC you should give them at least two years time. So, if the ICC thinks Pakistan is unsuitable for hosting this tournament they should declare right now and select a new host before it is too late. If they declare one/two months before the start of the tournament then it will make no sense. The tournament will get postponed just like the CT 08. And I don't expect things to get better in Pakistan in just two years.

Sorry, I didn't understand you. Anyway, the main targets of the Pakistani terrorists are the westerners and the Indians, not the Sri Lankans.

so the ICC has a magic ball that tells them what the situation is going to be like in Pakistan in 2 years time. What if the Pakistani government goes on a Sri Lanka like offensive and starts taking out the terrorists.

That's highly improbable. Gen. Musharaf tried to do this, look at him now...

improbable but not impossible. Yea it has been tried many times before but things cant be taken for granted, you never know whats going to happen tomorrow.

countries like India, Australia, NZ or South Africa can host a WC in short notice so I say give Pakistan some more time.

I think if you guys think a bit logically you'll surely understand that things just can't get better in Pakistan in just two years time. The government is doing simply nothing and the terrorists are getting more and more powerful as the days pass. Pakistan is a country where the chief of the army is more powerful than the PM- whatever he is saying the PM is nodding his head to it. Letting a terror-infested country like Pakistan organize the WC will be same as playing with fire.

Didn't we say the same thing in early 2008 when talks were on about shifting the CT to some other place? Already a year has passed. Nothing has changed. How much time will we give them? Infinity?

Pakistan is a complicated country but allot of this stuff is hardly their fault. They arent the only nation that failed to control the tribes in the north.

Maybe we did but that situation was made way worse by Bhutto who threw the whole country upside down. South Africa toured before her arrival and they didn't have any problems.

So Benazir Bhutto is responsible for everything!!!!!? Poor lady! Why did she ever get assassinated
Is this a joke? I think she tried her best to improve the situation, but some people didn't want this. So they just assassinated her and started a new chapter of political insecurity in Pakistan.

Never in any of my posts did I say that she was responsible for everything. But if you look at the situation before she decided to come back it was relatively calm by Pakistani standards and than when she came back all heck broke loose. I'm sure that if South Africas tour was during the time when Bhutto was there they wouldn't have toured.

Regretably Pakistan isn't a safe place to travel for most of the countries that play cricket. India is not as safe as it once was either, as seen by attacks on westerners last year. I don't think it should be held there for teh safety of the players and officials. It is a real shame because I like Pakistani cricket, and hope the situation will change where teams will be safe to travel there.
