Hardly a confirmation. I for one think the idea is worth a shot. It might cause more wickets to fall and thus more result oriented matches. Either way, improving the pitches must be the 1st priority.

This is more ridiculous than the PP in test cricket idea, to be honest. Especially in places like India were Cricket is primarily a winter sport, due plays a major part even in dayg/night ODI cricket. How do you deal with that in tests? What about the early morning juice in the track which makes the first hour of each day so crucial? What about the sun baking down on the track and playing a part on wearing the wicket down? These factors are a huge part of test cricket and I think Day/night cricket will totally change the test match cricket dynamics for worse.

Heck, they don`t even have a working solution for the cricket ball for day night tests.

It would be a definite no for test cricket like India and Pakistan. The dew factor would be too significant during winters and hence makes it literally impossible for the bowlers to hold the ball.

^^^ And huge crowds could come in incase the match is headed for a result :)

But what about all that I pointed out. A wet ball at night! That won`t help a result in anyway.

Cricket experts might come up with a solution. I still think we should try that out once..

You have made a very good point there, the one about the change that occurs to the wicket due to that atmosphere. Now if the wicket remains the same, there wouldnt be any test in "Test" match cricket.

But at the same time, in countries like India and Sri Lanka, even with the current type tests, there are lesser people watching and that is why, I say we ought to try and tweak something here and there to attract crowds.

Well, they use those anti-dew sprays these days. Our PCA used it recently and I think it did reduce dew significantly.

There's nothing wrong on giving a radical idea like this a try. Who knows... this might bring a new set of fans to the game. :)

The "day-night" idea is worth a try. But before being implemented, it should be tried domestically, in the first class competitions of different countries. There are certain flaws of Day-Night tests, as Aditya has mentioned. And they might turn out to be some severe hindrances in the path of producing a result at the end, thus defeating the main purpose of these kind of games.

It is much harder to score runs when the sun goes away, even with artificial lights.

I think this will be a big flop, worth a try I guess.

I have to say I kind of like the idea, but knowing the ICC they will overkill it if it is good and we could end up with series played completely with Day-Night Tests. There should maximum of one a series.
