India v Sri Lanka, its not over yet

Yay, chance to get revenge for the Idea Cup! :banana2

EDIT: Cricketman already posted it.

Let's try a 2nd XI. No Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Harbhajan or Zaheer. Doesn't matter if we lose. It'll be a good experience. Also, there's no need for those key players to risk injury in a meaningless series.

Murali Vijay
Ajinkya Rahane
Cheteshwar Pujara
Manoj Tiwary
Manish Pandey
Ravindra Jadeja
+ Dinesh Karthik
Piyush Chawla / Pragyan Ojha
Sreesanth
Ishant Sharma
Sudeep Tyagi / Pradeep Sangwan

Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina just miss out because they're already assured of a place in the squad for at least 2 series' more.

No way. The Indian board wont do it. SLC will protest against such a move and will force the Indian board to send their best XI to Sri Lanka. Most probably, Sachin might not play the tri-series (he will just play the tests).

Anyways, our tests for the year has gone up by a lot. Two tests vs SA at home, and three against Sri Lanka in SL. By the end of it, we would have played 10 tests in 2010 (including the ones against NZ at home if it goes as scheduled). Big chance to retain our No. 1 spot. If we beat SL in SL, we will be helped greatly because we lost 2-1 to them last time.

If it was once a year it wouldn't be too bad but it feels like they play each other 3 times a year. Plus is their rivalry that big to warrant a series each year? I think we have one with the Kiwis but we have that rivalry going to warrant it.

The reason the series is in place is purely for financial reasons. The Sri Lankan cricket board is extremely poor, so poor, in fact, that at one point they couldn't even pay their international contracts for a couple of season. A series against India makes good money for them, so the BCCI is helping them out a bit.

Unfortunately, neither of the boards seems to understand the concept of over-saturation.

When the upcoming series sees poor crowds and low TRP ratings, maybe they might start looking up to the fact. I will follow the test series ONLY, that too on Cricinfo. I am not watching this bore fest.

For Sri Lanka, definitely.
Yeah, they were who I was talking about *no sarcasm*

I can understand that though, SL wanting to play India because of the money it would bring to them in a tricky situation.

But why is the BCCI being so benovelent to Sri Lanka? They dont do anything if they dont gain from it.
