New International and Domestic season structure announced.

Highlights
  • Tri Series hits India
  • IPL gets reduced

The Board Control for Cricket in India have released a press conference about their new structure of their home international season, which states that they will not have two- Bi-lateral ODI series' in winter, instead of which they would have a Tri-Series involving India and the two away team which would tour India. They also unveiled their new domestic structure, since there were so many controversies on the existing system.

According to the reports, Ravi Shastri, the newly elected BCCI President has spoke to the media, which contains the following points:

Code:
- ODI Tri Series every year, instead of two bi lateral tournaments in winter.
- Two- three match bilateral T20i tournaments per year.
- a Bi-lateral ODI series with an associate nation before IPL.
- two test series' every year, with minimum of 8 test matches per year.
- IPL in just 30 days.
- IPL with just 3 OS players allowed in playing XI and maximum of 11 OS players allowed in a team.
- Vijay Hazare Trophy, Deodhar trophy and Syed Mustaq Ali trophy abandoned.
- IPL franchisees to play OD cricket in place of Vijay Hazare Trophy, Deodhar trophy and Syed Mustaq Ali trophy- with all franchisees getting players from selected number of Ranji trophy teams, without any OS players.
- Ranji Trophy & Duleep Trophy to take place as usual.
- All zonal tournaments like Buchi Babu tournaments abandoned.

With all these new changes, which were to come into effect by 2012-13 season, cricket fans of India are looking forward to see how the new system works out, since India were struggling with overseas clean sweeps due to lack of proper domestic structure. On the official broadcaster, he said that they are still in discussions with various sports channels.

If you can do all these tournaments in your story, trust me it could be the biggest story of the year, Prithvi. Hope it doesn't end abruptly.

ESPNstar has been awarded with the broadcasting rights of all cricket which is hosted by BCCI. They have officially took the broadcasting rights for a very huge amount, which is not disclosed by neither of the parties. What the sources say is
there was no auction style thing, which generally happens. BCCI had talks with various people, and finally decided to go with ESPNstar, said a reliable source.

IPL got ESPNstar broadcasting services.

The source also said that the contract with Sony Entertainment Television for the Indian Premier League broadcasting was cut since the channel officials refused to play the IPL games once in a week end, in place of a movie. BCCI took a serious decision to strip the contract with them, since they had 50 overs cricket with IPL franchisees, which could become bit tricky if they continue to with SET.

Indian Squad for the Asia Cup, Bangladesh, 2012.

The BCCI selection committee has announced a 15 man squad for the forth coming Asia Cup to take place at Bangladesh. The 15 man squad does contain all the big names of Indian cricket, with Harbhajan Singh and Cheteshwar Pujara earning a national call. Indian selectors said that India were having a very huge strategy to see that team doesn't collapse after the exit of Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman, who are likely to retire at once.

India
Virender Sehwag (VC)
Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Gambhir
Virat Kohli
Suresh Raina
Cheteshwar Pujara

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (C)
Parthiv Patel

Irfan Pathan
Ravindra Jadeja

Zaheer Khan
R Vinay Kumar
Praveen Kumar
Harbhajan Singh
Ravichandran Ashwin

Selectors are hoping the best from these bunch of players, since they are the best available players at the moment for team India. The Asia Cup will have an India Pakistan match, which makes the tournament itself a huge highlight, since India-Pakistan aren't playing bi-lateral tournaments due to political tensions between the countries.

I wonder if Jadeja could make it for that team (in real life). Irfan was a good inclusion. Glad to see Cheteshwar in (Learn something this, selectors :p). Bhajji's performance will be crucial.

Suresh Raina doesn't deserve a chance.
Good and perfect team for the tournament.

ACC changes the Asia Cup format, for a change.

Asian Cricket Council, who were planning to host an Asia cup in Bangladesh, changed their mind, keeping the non home games in mind. The ACC official spoke to the media about their new format of the Asia Cup, which will feature across all over the subcontinent, with each team playing each other twice, once at home and once away.

"Well it is very much possible, with four countries with maximum of time difference of 30 minutes, I don't think this will be a flop. By this, we can attract even better crowds, just like how ICC Cricket World Cup took place. All Bangladesh home games at Bangladesh, Indian home games at India, Sri Lankan home games at Sri Lanka. We are yet to get a NOC from all the three boards regarding their tout to Pakistan. If not Pakistan, either Bangladesh or Sri Lankan stadium will be hosting all the Pakistani home games." said an official.

He also announced the fixtures, with Pakistani home games having undecided venue.

Code:
India v Pakistan at New Delhi.
Pakistan v Sri Lanka at TBA
Sri Lanka v India at Galle.
Bangladesh v Pakistan at Dhaka.
Sri Lanka v Bangladesh at Pallakele.
Bangladesh v India at Dhaka.
Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Colombo.
India v Sri Lanka at Hyderabad.
Pakistan v Bangladesh at TBA
Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Dhaka.
Pakistan v India at TBA
India v Bangladesh at Cuttak.

Finals:
TBA v TBA at TBA
TBA v TBA at TBA
TBA v TBA at Bangalore (if required)

It happened even in case of IPL!
Just check cricinfo, Deccan has few home games issues to be sorted out.
