In the Pre-Season Match Thread, there are now examples of matches played on Excellent, Normal and Poor pitches in first-class cricket. It's time for you all to decide which of those three pitch types you would like to employ at your home ground in first-class matches.

@Ali. @Na Maloom Afraad @themusketeer @Simon @MattW

For List A cricket, I believe @VC the slogger goes into rather more depth than I do, so I'll let him explain your choices for those pitch types, while the Twenty20 simulator has many pitch types so again, @User2010 can explain that.

Hopefully that all makes sense.

T20 Pitch types:

  • Hard - Perfect pitch for a T20 game. High scores are made as well as chased.
  • Flat - This is a batting paradise where 200+ scores are seen frequently. Bowler's nightmare.
  • Green - With live green grass this pitch is fast bowlers' delight. A team can be all out for a double digit score!
  • Dusty - Spinners and bowlers who change their pace often are successful on such a wicket. However, batsmen can score freely once in.
  • Slow - The ball keeps low and slow on this wicket and one may not see many big totals over here.

Obviously there's going to be no monkeying with our pitch at Monkey Park - making it Excellent for FC/LA games and Green in T20s.

@The Author How come there is no green wicketfor FC matches? Can you also explain the advantages/disadvantages for bowler types for the wickets you have listed please?
  • Batsmen run riot on Excellent pitches, and draws are highly likely unless you select loads of bowling.
  • There should be a more even balance on Normal pitches, and matches will likely go deep into the fourth evening.
  • Bowlers, particularly spinners, do well on Poor pitches (although you can still get runs on them). Slower scoring.

Flat: Brilliant for batting and barely anything much in it for the bowlers. Expect scores ranging from over 270 right up to 400+.
This sounds like Kowloon Cricket Club.

List A pitches

Bouncy: A WACA-like pitch which favors faster bowlers and at the same time has some runs on offer for batting sides.

Dusty: Good for batsmen but evenly balanced. Decent bit of turn on offer for spinners.

Flat: Brilliant for batting and barely anything much in it for the bowlers. Expect scores ranging from over 270 right up to 400+.

Green: Lot of movement on offer early on and can be quite difficult for the team batting first. Obviously good for fast bowlers capable of swinging it.

Sticky: Terrifying prospect for batsmen and a bowler's paradise. The kind of pitches that were used in the late 19th century.

Can you plrease add green wickets so that there is a pitch that favours the seamers and not the spinners? Our home pitch is listed to as a greentop and the other formats have this option.

I'll go with Bouncy for List A on that basis.

So that goes with a Green pitch for T20 and an Excellent pitch for FC.

There is no such option in the Test Cricsim, besides one which would involve me changing the ratings of every player for every game. Given that I will start my new job before this league even gets properly going, that isn't happening.

Seamers will prosper relatively well on poor pitches, though.[DOUBLEPOST=1438688681][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, one other thing, I've played all the pre-season matches as neutral matches so as to give everyone a realistic feel of where their teams actually are in terms of performance.

In league games, however, you will have home advantage.

Amigos T20: GREEN..
