England were fantastic today with the ball and bowled superbly throughout the innings restricted Australia to a very modest total on a pitch that looks decent enough for batting.

Now a great start with the bat by the openers.

What a load of utter rubbish. Grow some balls mate. Your team didn't live up to expectation. That happens. They are a good side that couldn't quite fire at the right moment. Try some humility: you could learn a little from your very own captain.

This is getting tantalisingly similar to the 1999 semi final at Edgbaston. Hopefully England don't do a South Africa.

Australia need a certain Shane Warne like spell for that to happen.

I don't know why the Subcontinent fans like to say that that World Cup sucked. It had one of the best sides in history, great underdog stories in the form of Bangladesh and Ireland, and some good cricket as far as my memory goes. The format was very reasonable because a) it gave the stronger sides a relatively easy way to get into the kind of league stage we have this year, and b) it gave the less strong sides a much more difficult but equal chance to break into the scene. Just because there wasn't any India and Pakistan doesn't mean the rest of the world didn't enjoy it.

I said that in terms of lack of atmosphere and apart from the Bangladesh and Ireland performances, had a truckload of one-sided games and an Aussie side that wasn't challenged even once.

Makes sense to have him play in the middle order where he’s shined in county cricket, but isn’t it already overcrowded with a classy player like Foakes not able to secure a regular spot himself? And if you’re suggesting that Roy should open the innings, it would be wise to have a look at one certain Aussie captain who totally lost form and confidence for nearly a year after being shoehorned in as an opener in test cricket.[DOUBLEPOST=1562857076][/DOUBLEPOST]England are doing this as clinically as possible, wonder how the narrative surrounding their apparent ‘inability’ to play on tougher pitches will be spun around today.

I would think if the England selectors picked him,it would be as opener.I think they would see him as England's Warner.

I would back Australia to win this. England look a bit vulnerable when chasing, especially small/moderate totals. I think getting Root and Butler cheaply will do the trick for them.

I think with this WC we can draw a lot of similarities from the previous WCs. Pakistan after going throw a slump early in the tournament getting back to their winning ways (1992 WC), India rushing through to the Semi-final and losing at the end (2015 WC), the hosts being defeated by Bangladesh and knocked out of the previous WC starts as favourites for the current WC and meets it's greatest arch-rivals in the Semi-final (very much like Indian side in 2011 WC). If England actually gets their best at the right time they can go on to win the WC. England side has struggled on surfaces that have fair bit of help for the bowlers and today they are up and running against a very good bowling line-up on a tough pitch. Could very well be England winning the WC as of now. But it's good to see English fans having an opportunity to take jibes and have personal attacks at the Indian fans despite India being 2 time Champions and their team not winning a WC even for once despite it being their national sport. Very well shows how cheap the mentality of the world becomes when they achieve even little bit of success. Enjoy your success but stay grounded ! Would be good to achieve respect for the English side in the world of Cricket.

There was a certain Indian batsman who was a middle-order specialist being asked to open and after his success in the ODI Cricket he opened in Test matches as well and went on to score 2 Triple centuries ! And yes averaged close to 40 and striked at 85+ to add to it teared apart some of the great bowlers in the world.[DOUBLEPOST=1562857798][/DOUBLEPOST]

"But having said that, we have qualified to the semis and we have played some really good cricket, so we should be also proud of the way we have played and look at the positives also, because there were a lot throughout this tournament, especially Rohit's performance was standout, Jasprit with the ball and Jadeja given the opportunities. That's why Kohli is one of my favourite cricketers; he's tenacious and passionate on the pitch but has the humility to accept his and his team's defeat in a gracious and reasonable way.
