A classic example of the early 2000s keeper-opener-slogger mould of player. He never made a huge impact for the Kiwis, but was a memorable role player in the Nathan Astle series against England. Loses a lot of marks for keeping in short sleeves.

I'm gonna go with another player I've always had a liking for but who ended up in the "average" bracket in the limited chances he got in the end. In the exact same vein of my previous Billings pick- an early 30s averaging WK middle-order bat in a lower sample size because he was never first choice keeper.

With my next pick I’ll go with the guy I call the seam bowling Liam Dawson (from me that’s about the biggest insult I can give) and that is Lewis Gregory. Just was there when selected for England and all his ODI caps come from an entire squad having a COVID breach. When you get selected at the same time as John Simpson for an ODI debut, you are mediocre.

I'm gonna go screw it- another player from the list of random players that I have a strong liking for. He was a quality left arm pacer in domestic and probably the best ever in BBL, but his ODI career was very brief and ended much before it should have- thanks to injuries, which haunted his career from the start. He would still however be remembered for his prized moment, a fifer at Lord's in a world cup game against England- a wet dream for any Australian.

It's an ODI draft, so I hope that'll let it pass. 16 wickets in 12 innings @ 35 is pretty "average" for someone with a fifer, I will say. He ain't shit, cause he's taken a fifer and we know his potential in white-ball, but he's also not great with those stats, though he should have achieved wayyy more.
