English Domestic Cricket 2007

This is extracting so much urine. I'll be gutted when we lose. More gutted than i've ever been at any England game.

ouch.

Great effort by Lancs though, any side that scores that much on a 4th day deserves a win and if it wasn't for Mark Ramprakash they would be champions. Lets hope its as exciting as this next reay although it would be nice for it tobe a bit shorter and it would make it more fun to follow.

Gutted. Sussex came from nowhere after that nightmare start of a season really. Kudos to them.

Choked again eh? ;)

Can't believe that Cork tried to sweep that though, to be honest, Lancashire didn't deserve to win that given the fact that they only took 14 wickets in the match.

I'm gutted, Chilly's interview just summed it all up. So near but yet so far once again. The players can't be faulted, they were outstanding today and credit has to go to Sussex for retaining their trophy. In response to the post 2 posts above this, Corky had to get some runs, not many were going to come off the bat of Keedy, you could tell how much that hurt Cork when he was walking off. Also, any side that gets over 450 in the 4th innings of the match does not deserve to lose. It makes me wonder if we're ever going to do it.

I'd say full credit goes to Butcher, it would have been easy for him to carry on batting yesterday instead of declaring and giving Lancs something to go at. Shame that doesn't happen a bit more often in the CCh.

Congrats to Sussex too, first back to back Champions since the split to two divisions.

Yeah I was thinking that myself. Surrey probably would have batted the entire day today had Butch not made a game of it.

If you mean me, I'm not knocking him for trying, but to sweep something a yard and a half outside off-stump is just stupid.

Mushy is such a friggin' legend.

 13 wickets when we needed him, a shout out for Rayner too, only 2 wickets in the game, but boy, can he turn a ball!

Well done Lancs it was a great effort today, although it was the 4th innings it was still the Oval and I'd still rather bat than bowl on that pitch. On a slightly different note, and this isn't aimed to slag of Lancs, I'm glad that Lancs didn't win it because I think it'd be a bit detrimental if a team won the league despite not winning as many games as 2nd and 3rd, the ECB have to make some changes to the points system. I'm delighted, I thought Lancs would do it, but well done to Surrey they put on a good performance, especially given at one point they looked certain to be relegated, but Jordan and Dernbach have bowled well of late.

Our opening batsman Montgomerie has retired though, but what a season to retire, after winning the CC.

http://content-www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/17066.html

1,129 runs at 40 in FC with 2 hundreds, 574 runs at 57.4 in List A. A very good close in fielder too.

How long will Mushy go though? Leggie's don't tend to go on too long, he will be with us next season, but he will be 38 come next June. Whatever he chooses, a legend for us.

Who says the CC is boring?

I'm disappointed Sky couldn't put the Lancs game on SS3 instead of the flipping wrestling though, having Cable I don't get the interactive options and given how limited Sky's viewing figures on Cricket is, they could've put it on a main channel.

Worst moment of my cricket Watching life when Cork chopped on to his stumps meaning Sussex were the Champions again. I've waited all my life to see the Red Rose win the County Championship and when Laxman and Law were rollocking along I thought we had them. An rollercoaster season of which many matches I've been to Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex has ended in dissapointed yet again.

Mushy won't go on much longer, although he's signed a two year deal with you I don't think he'll even play much next year. He's been having pain relieving injections in both his knees since late July. His body can't really take it anymore, but he's just a bloke who wants to do everything and keeps pushing further.

Richard Montgomerie has retired to take up a post teaching Chemistry and being a Cricket Master at Eton College. What an absolute legend, given a lot to Sussex Cricket for the past 8 years. Wish him well.

He certainly has been a great servant to us, I think Mushy needs a big break tbh. He's not got any international commitments (as coach or player) so he should put his feet up and chill.

Yeah, he and Chris Adams were saying he's got a whole winter off now, he's not going to be playing at any level back in Pakistan so a good six months rest for him before pre-season starts again.

Must say Rayner's done fantastically for the seconds this year, only problem is with Saqi and Mushy there chances are going to be few and far between. He and Will Beer, need to get a few more 1st team games if we're looking for them to over-take Mushy and Saqi when they retire.

I can see Mushy playing less next season to give Rayner a few more games, which is about right imo. Don't want him to suddenly play 16 FC games as soon as Mushy retires.
