Adam Gilchrist is not sure if he will be back in Brisbane for the first Test of the next Australian summer. Touring over the past two years has worn him down to the point where he has considered walking away and the load will not become any lighter.

Australia face a record-breaking schedule in the next 18 months and there is a chance Gilchrist will step off the international treadmill. "Retirement is getting closer for Matthew Hayden and I," he said. "We know that because we are getting asked about it."

Gilchrist wondered during the opening game of last year's Ashes whether it would be his final series, but he will start the first Test against Sri Lanka on Thursday recharged after an off-season break. "Now I'm going to see where it leads," he said. "The World Cup win was a shot in the arm and for the past two seasons we've had three months away from the game during the winter.

"In the next three or four years you're not going to see that break and it's an important time for my career. I'm not sure whether I'll be back here next year, but with the way I feel at the moment it's the intention to try and get right through."

Their team was never great anyways;)

Well, Hayden is deffo not going to be there next summer I think. The clock is ticking for Gilchrist. To be honest, they won't be as missed as a McGrath or a Warne. Haddin in for Gilchrist, Rogers in for Hayden.

hehe i am talking about the big players retiring from the team. And india is not big?:mad:ICC cant run without india.:p
And your team will not be as dominant as it was few years ago after the retirement of gilly and hayden.

What big names have retired from the Indian team in the last 5 years? Not any huge ones I can recall, besides that fast bowler.

We will not be as dominant I think as well, but we will still be the dominant team. No Test team could line up to a team like this anyways:

Australia XI Test (Possible next summer)

Rogers
Jaques
Ponting (C)
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Haddin (WK)
Lee
Clark
Hilfenhaus/Tait/Johnson
MacGill

your team was no great either though rest of teams were poor, when you played some good opposition there weaknesses were exploited.

Dont talk crap Cricket god. The Australian cricket team of the past ten years has been one of the best ever. No the rest of the other teams around weren't poor. They were good sides, Australia hve just been absolutely fantastic for ten years, as the WI were.

Umm..... you're really banking on the newcomers to fit exactly into the shoes of the big retirees. MacGill won't be around for that much longer, either.

noo!!!

not an aussie cricketer i like!!!

him, warne, mcgrath, lee & clarke are the only ones i like, purely because they are all class!!!
nothing against the rest, but these guys are/were a cut above
