West Indies Tour of England - May to June 2012

Yeah, no Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, probably because they themselves wanted to continue playing the IPL. And given how their respective sides in the IPL aren't doing as well as they would have liked, I doubt they will be allowed to leave the tournament mid-way anyway!

Australia tour of West Indies March-April 2011/12

Haha! Whoops! I meant 170/4 to 200 odd all out. ---------- Wankhede it was, Kartik went on to win the man of the match award and Ricky Ponting was rather cross with the state of the pitch. Unfortunately for him, he had missed the first three Tests of which Australia won two, and when he...

Australia tour of West Indies March-April 2011/12

Haha, that was some pitch. I was in the stands on all the two days and a few overs that game lasted. First day, it rained till after tea. Second day, India were bowled out for 100, Australia scored 200. Third day, India scored some 1870/4 or something and then Clarke came on. Suddenly the...

    Cricketing Queries

Yep, the time-wasting rule wasn't connected to Switch Hit alright, but it is a, so to say, workaround, that the bowlers have now found. See a batsman attempt a Switch Hit, stop in the delivery stride. Of course, that can be countered by the batsman waiting till the ball is bowled before...

    Cricketing Queries

Switch Hit has been made illegal so far by the ICC but there was a case recently when Tillakaratne Dilshan refused to bowl to Kevin Pietersen when he tried a Switch-Hit and after a couple of occasions, the umpires gave Pietersen an official warning for time-wasting! Another such warning would...

Australia tour of West Indies March-April 2011/12

Actually I was listening to the commentary at that time, it was Ian Bishop who said something to the effect of 'I think with a wicket recently lost, it would be a better move to get in a frontline bowler' and within a couple of balls, Warner stuck!

    IPL Stupid Scheduling

Yeah I guess Deccan Chargers would have been happier with a game quickly after the first two matches - the long break did not do them good. Sad to see them almost drop out of the race. They need a string of 3-4 wins to make some comeback.

    IPL Stupid Scheduling

I do understand that playing back-to-back matches is difficult to fathom. But we need to understand how difficult scheduling generally is for a tournament of this nature. There are so many different variables involved here - nine teams, 25-30 players each, getting the broadcasting equipment...

thanks mate. yeah, Test series should be three Tests long, did not make sense to have SL-Eng perched at 1-1 with players flying away to play the IPL.

Haha, I understand where you are coming from and personally it pains me to see the way T20 is encroaching on the purest format of the game - especially in terms of shot-making. But try convincing the ICC and the respective boards to give up on the moolah and focus only on the five-day game and...

IPL 21 Apr - Delhi Daredevils v Pune Warriors

Yeah, you cannot help but admire the man, not giving up till the end, despite not being selected in last season's auction. Although I must admit that his batting and fielding has left a lot to be desired. Delhi's bowling will test the Warriors.

IPL 21 Apr - Chennai Super Kings v Rajasthan Royals

The teams do not get announced till half hour before the game, i.e. at the toss. In fact, there are times when the captains do not even say much at the toss and with only 15 minutes to go for the game do the broadcasters tell us the teams.

Hello! Hello everyone, I am a cricket fan from India. Loved some of the discussion going around here and decided to join in. Big fan of Test match cricket, although I do understand that T20 cricket is where the future lies. Hope to have some interesting chat here.
