The problem with bowling at the moment is that the bowling has no timing. When batting if you selected the stroke and power would that be any fun? (Well there is some timing, but choosing power hardly counts.)

Initially, the line of the ball should be chosen. Whether the ball actually lands on the correct line, could be decided by confidence, accuracy, pressure, fatgiue etc. The angle of the run up should also have a factor.

When running up, perhaps you have to press the button multiple times to get speed. The faster you press it, the faster the ball will be delivered, within the contraints of the bowler himself (max speed, stamina, fatigue etc).

There should be some method that no balls would be included as well.

When choosing length, a horizontal line should be drawn across the screen which moves backwards towards the bowler (to mimic the action of the release - pressing it early will result in a full toss, late in a bouncer). When the user presses the button the ball will land on the that length based on other factors (previously mentioned). The speed at which the line moves backwards will be determined by the speed of the run up, accuracy, and perhaps tiredness.

This might make bowling consistant line and length a challenge.
