I've been learning about Cricket over the last year and have a question; if a batsman hits the ball and it hits the opposing wicket, knocking it down, what do the rules say happens? Thanks.

If the bowler touches the ball on it's way back to the opposite stumps and the batsman at the non-strikers end is out of his crease as the ball hits the stumps he is given 'run out' ( and that's pretty unlucky when that happens!).
Otherwise, if the ball just hits the opposite stumps and riccochets off, it's still classed as 'alive' and the batsmen can run (I think).

You are right Jonah.

And what if the non striker knocks down stums at his end? dead ball I guess? (never seen this happen though ;)

You've got me on that one Shailesh. Must be pretty rare, though!
