The worst cricket game ever released...
The Art of Cricket alpha demo was developed by two amateurs in their spare time and is more like cricket than this travesty.
What really grates though is the blatant lying from all their representatives past and present about the state of the game...
I've been reading this site for donkey's years and feel intimidated to post!
If you find questions repetitive just ignore it and let the staff give the link to the appropriate thread. If you are not a mod just leave it.
The insta-flaming of newbies just creates a hostile and fairly elitist...
Sounds good!
But... Can you accidentally bowl a half volley when you select good length?
This is one of the most common bowling errors and should be a focus of how the game penalises you for mistiming.
Do the short/good/full areas overlap?
Hi,
What is the balance between in-game player stats and the human's reactions and skills?
Lets say I take on a tough tour (Playing as Sri Lanka vs. SA in SA for instance). Would it be really tough to win even if I was really quite good at the button-pressing side of the game?
It would...
I always thought nets were a great touch to any cricket game. What all the previous versions really missed was a few commentary lines from a "coach" that indicated if you were doing it right
"Great shot boy!"
"Get your feet to the pitch!"
"You gotta leave those!"... etc
This would have...
Good luck for the final push towards the alpha LM...
It's in your best interest to make it have a bit of "wow factor" and really show off some of the unique selling points that set it apart from commercial games..
A good alpha release will be a huge watershed for the game and vindication...
Glad to see you're back LM.
I'm all for setting dates for yourself but I think telling the forum just encourages negative responses when they're missed...
Maybe just a quick post every couple of days just to say what you were working on (no matter how boring!) would be better....
KUTGW!
Just wanted to add my support to JK and LM ...
Keep going guys, we all admire your dedication and can'r wait to get our hands on what will be the best cricket game ever.
Great videos!
The physics look fantastic.
One criticism I would have of the second video is the position of the batsman as he plays the shot.
His stance is fine but when he moves his feet his back foot moves to the legside so there is no movement INTO the shot.
The batsmans legs sort...
I'm waiting with baited breath!
Although LM and JK haven't mentioned the dreaded word "delay", I would still give them a couple of weeks grace to squash the inevitable night-before-release-game-breaking-bug...
Fantatic work though and I can't wait to have a net!
Love the new logos LC!
THe green one is really classy
...THe only thing that I feel might be misssing is a ball in the picture somewhere below the bat,... a white silouhette of one anyway...
Yusuf
I quite like LC's green one except for the odd mix of fonts and the large 'ART' in the title...
I think it would look best with the top row of words all of the same smaller size and in the same font with just the word 'cricket' larger and below...
Simple but effective...
Hi guys,
Just wanted to add my encouragement .. the alpha is great news.
Just one thing: have you guys considered giving us a slighlty larger net area so we can see the variation in shots direction etc?
Maybe like a centre wicket area?
I'd like to add my voice in favour of one button combination giving various different shots (instead of playing the same canned animation..). This will add much needed variety and a feeling of a real batsman in the game rather than a robot.
The possible shot animations should also vary...
I'm glad this discussion is happening!
All these ideas sound great, I love the idea of revving the ball for spin, perhaps it could also be related to the pace of the ball and trajectory
Fewer revs, more speed and flatter maybe?
One question though?
If we have a system where we place...
Awesome,
Getting good sound sounds like a pain but would really add something. I was watching a bit of cricket last night and it was amzing what sounds you hear during just a single delivery.
The grunt of the bowler, the ball hitting bats and pads. The sound of the batsman moving as he...
@HnC
That's pretty similar to what I was thinking!
I don't think it would be wise to start getting lines on the pitch and stuff as it would sort of spoil the visuals which should remian as uncluttered as possible...the use of gauges on the side bottom of the screen during the run up mught...
