Changing Team Names

Ok. Step by step guide:


Important rules before you start:
The new team name must be the the same length or shorter than the name you are replacing
The name must be exactly the same in the .gob and the .exe
You should back-up regularly

In this example I am going to replace namibia with ireland (random choice):


1. First edit the .gob with Config Editor V3
Open screen ID 1 = playnow



Observe "namibia"

Change to "ireland"



DO THIS TWICE. IT ALSO APPEARS LOWER DOWN IN THE PAGE

Open Screen ID 198

Edit "namibia" to "ireland" here too:



That's the easy bit...

2. Editing the .exe

Take an unencoded exe (i.e. the original not Sam's runout or lineup fixed exe)

Open it with a Hex Editor. I use Hackman; hex workshop is also good.

Do an ASCII search for "namibia"



You should see this:



Make the changes as follows. Do not change anything else. Only what is in red:



This is the 3 letter code, the name in caps and the name in lower case.

Then, do another ASCII search; this time for "nam"
It will find quite a few as nam is also in name. Press F3 (find next until you get to the one you want). Here:




Change it to the same three letter code you used earlier.

That's it. Remember to run the correct exe and .gob together and save and backup regularly when you are making changes.

So there's no way to do it without the default exe?

You think we could ask Sam to edit his new .exe so that it has England A or Scotland instead of Dukes XI(along with run-out and lineup fix)??

I did but it's not possible. He's exploring certain other possibilities. This is the major drawback.

Hello barmyarmy is the above also steps in finding offsets for hair pls inform. Also is 6E616D69626961 the offset for Namibia.

Kind of. When searching for hair offsets do as ASCII search as above on the .gob for "hair"
Then enter the decimal offset +1 into the .gob viewer

could you pls do another example like above for how to get offsets pls it is a bit confusing.

Hey understood whatever u wanted me too . But still problem persists with how to take the code .There should be some criteria. The codes u used besides the name field how does it come bout. Plz help us and especially me with this out.

Sorry, I don't understand the question. Do you mean the 3 letter code I inserted? If so I just made it up - IRL for Ireland; it could just as easily be IRE
