Story 2010/11 Vodafone Ashes Series- Adelaide Test begins!

^ um, the scorecard looks more like the one sky uses :p

Pretty dissapointing start from the english to be in a position like this, Collingwood and Foster have to rebuild like Hussey & Haddin usually do. :p

better try to use this overlay made by JC

Yeah i would of used that, but it doesn't have a bowling card, or a match summary card to go with it, unlike what Treva has sent me. So if JC could make a bowling card and a summary card, i'd be happy to use it.

But for now i am happy to use Treva's Sky sports scoreboards

Oh and i also meant the batting scoreboard for when the players enter the crease, i copied that from watching the coverage this afternoon from channel 9

You could always edit the colours and remove the 'www.skysports.com' text. Then have a look at Gamerkid's scorecard tutorial to round the edges :)

With both teams coming out onto the ground after the tea break, it's Australian who looks to be in the box seat here. England's batting line-up has been rather dissapointing thus far in this match, but it is now up to Paul Collingwood and the tail enders to produce a big enough score. Collingwood has looked good for his 28, and with Foster new to the crease, the Australian bowlers will be looking to knock over Foster as quickly as possible, to expose that tail end more.

Australia will continue after the tea break, with Ben Hilfenhaus taking the ball. Hilfenhaus has been a little expensive this afternoon thus far, but he'll be looking to tightning things up in his second spell of bowling. 9 overs bowled and 37 runs for no wicket. Hilfenhaus will be looking to swing the ball, but being late in the afternoon he might be finding it hard to do so.

Australia's number one bowler will resume at the other end of the pitch with Mitchell Johnson taking the ball after the tea break. Johnson has proved dangerous, as he has swung the ball away from the left handed batsman, and back into the right handed batsman coming over the wicket. This will be a big period of the match here, Australia could pick up 2 wickets, this match should be over and done with. If Collingwood and Foster get going and build a partnership, the game is well and truly on.

The Australian bowlers kept up their immense pressure after the tea break. And it was only a matter of time, before Australia got the man they were after. Paul Collingwood fell to a wonderful display of bowling from Shane Watson. Watson was brought into the attack, and started to swing the ball just the slightest little bit. Enough to move away and pick up the crucial wicket of Collingwood. Brad Haddin couldn't believe it, as he took another catch for the match, and he would be so pleased with his bowlers being able to move the ball and shape it towards the edge of the bat. Collingwood falls for 38 and i think things are now looking glim here for England. The tail end is now exposed and their last known batsman has been dismissed. Australia look in real control here this evening.

Collingwood gone. Tail is now exposed for England

England are now in real deep trouble. Australia has now exposed the England tail end, with Stuart Broad the next man to the crease. Collingwood was filthy with himself, as he knew that his countries first innings layed right on his shoulders. If Collingwood stayed out in the middle till the end of the days play, then England might have a shot at making a decent total. But a wonderful display of bowling from Watson prevented that from happening, and now here we are with Broad walking to the crease. Broad is a handy batsman, so i wouldn't say things are totally over for England. Broad has made 1096 runs in his 34 test appearences at an average of 27 which is a good total for the number 8 batsman.
Can he produce a innings and a half here? Or will Australia pick him up early. Time will tell.

Stuart Broad could prove handy with the bat?

But just like the story has been for the whole day, Australia kept up their pressure in the bowling department, and they took another wicket. It was Broad the new man to the crease that had departed for just the 2 runs. Nathan Hauritz was brought into the attack for the first time from Ponting, and he did his job. Bowling very economically, and then he took the wicket of Broad with some wonderful spin bowling. Hussey was standing in at the silly point. Ponting had the field set very aggresively to Broad. Men close to the batsman to try and get a slightest edge or height on the ball would be caught.
Hussey got a ball to come in his direction, except the ball was 2-3 metres to his left, Hussey had to dive, but took the ball comfortably with the one hand, it was certainly a classic catch. Australia have another wicket and now that's 7 down for the English.

Hussey is in the classic catches, with Hauritz picking up Broad

Crowd favorite Monty Panesar got a huge reception when he was the next man to walk out onto the ground at number 9. Panesar has been a crowd favorite since the last time he was here in Australia back in 2006. Monty is certainly a unpredicatable batsman, he can smack the ball away to the boundary in the most un orthodox ways possible. Panesar has played 39 Test matches and has made 187 runs. Only averaging the 5 runs, it sometimes doesn't seem enough for Panesar who can score runs quickly off the quicker bowlers. He tends to find a bit of luck down the order, but we will see how he goes for the rest of the evening. Foster is playing well down the other end, so basically Monty has come in as a night watchmen even though the Australian's have already knocked off the lower order.

Huge reception as MONTY comes to the crease

Not all bad things were happening for the English batsman. Even though the wickets were falling down the one end with Collingwood and Broad going in the last few overs.. but up the other end, James Foster was carrying this England side to a decent total. The Australian bowlers are seeming to get a bit tired after a long day in the field, and Foster is starting to pick that up, and destroying every bad ball come he's way. Foster races on and reaches he's half century, something that a top ordered batsman wasn't able to achieve for the English. Panesar has played a supporting role, and England have put a bit of respectability back into this scoreboard. Foster has score 55 runs from just the 59 balls with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes coming from his wonderful innings thus far. James Foster is treating this test match as a 20/20 by the looks of it, and Ponting has tried spreading the field in every which way to stop Foster, but the English batsman keeps finding a way to score runs.

Tail Wags as Foster brings up his half century

So this is the story ladies and gentlemen. We have concluded the second day of play here in Brisbane. Australia made 396 in their first innings, and England have had trouble all afternoon to reduce that total. The England top order failed, but it their tail enders that are keeping them in the match. Foster finishes the day off on 69 not out. Monty Panesar is providing Foster with some good stroking making up the other end, as Monty finishes the evening with 20 not out. England have moved to 241-7 at the end of day 2, still 155 runs behind the Australian's innings total.
For the Australian's Doug Bollinger has finished the day on with 3 wickets. Mitchell Johnson finished with 2 while Watson and Hauritz picked up the last 2 wickets of the evening. We'll be back here for day 3 at 10am tomorrow morning, i hope you can join us.

What I would like to know is why Panesar is batting above Anderson?

Nice to see Hauritz take a wicket but Australia need to take the wicket of Foster soon.

Wow. Foster just comes out of nowhere giving England a ray of hope for this match.

It actually is quite surprising to see Hauritz having an ER that low, we aren't used to seeing this. Another surprise is Hilfenhaus, he is just getting whacked here, there and everywhere and certainly needs to pick up a wicket or two to get the confidence back in himself.

I am utterly disappointed from Collingwood. The camera angle of the video doesn't really tell me whether he went to chase a delivery outside off or not. I guess he needed to show some more maturity there.

From 158 for 6 to 241 for 7 is a superb recovery by England, thanks to Foster. All I hope is that they at least manage to reach the 300 mark now.

That's in there so no-one forgets this is pure fantasy! ;)
Is it? Oh, yes. I completely forgot this is just a fantasy. They way Roofrom50 presents the updates makes me feel as if a real match is on. :p

Mate This Is Best Story of this weak your presentation all these things are great.:clap

Panesar working on his batting these days? :spy With Anderson and Sidebottom still left to come to bat, I guess England will reach to 300.

Foster is playing brilliantly there, I hope he won't take England past 300 to give Aussies the edge but Eng's efforts needs to be credited.
And Hussey's catch was a pure beauty.

Amazing work Roo, this is going really well and is one of the best stories ATM.

Haven't viewed the forums from last 5-6 days, so I might have missed some upgrades but now England going like what Australia did in the Ashes (real) and a good knock from Monty through. :D
