IPL 2nd Match: Bangalore Royal Challengers v Rajasthan Royals

Dravid today played an unbelievable shot, I think it was his 2nd or 3rd Four of the innings where he drove slightly uppishly to the covers on the up, the ball went past right of the cover fielder and left of the mid off fielder. There Was absolutely no gap there but dravid threaded them like a hot knife. Commentators say that Dravid was lucky to get that in gap as it was a mistimed shot. But if you look at the replay, you would see dravid was in total control and played the shot on the up delibratley. His expression following the shot confirms it. Even then the commentators didnt corrected himself. They were so quick to discredit the batsman of a great shot but when they do mistake they wont correct themselve:mad::mad::mad:

If I'm thinking of the same shot it was a thick outside edge that went through the gap, commentators were right imo.

Nope, it isnt the same. It was the one wher he skooped the ball very late in the cover drive. Went sightly uppishly but in the gap. No Edge.

Pretty sure it's the same one, and there was definitely a thick outside edge involved. He certainly didn't intend it to go specifically in that gap, and he turned the blade very late. The commentators were right.

Dravid made a strong statement in the post-match presentation ceremony and it was quite true as well! Hats-off to him, he played exceptionally well today :)

Great work by Kumar and Ryder, I felt their bowling was more important than Kumbles (not that those wickets of Pathan and Jadeja weren't important). Newlands at night can be almost impossible to bat on and they proved it by just bowling in the right channels and lettng the pitch do the work, great bowling.

Two teams lost chasing. A sign of things to come in this tournament? A premature statement but oh well...

Nope. Only at Newlands. Newlands its always better to bat first, other grounds like wanderers and centurion, blomfontein and port elizabeth its better batting second.

Under lights, at least.

Also depends on venue. Newlands and East Londen you are probably right but some of the others chasing is better and at kingsmead its a toss up.

Pitches not up to scratch i'm afraid. People want to see runs, not scores 120s, 130s and 50s
