82nd Academy Awards

Hopefully I won't have the same reaction as after Slumdog, only saw it after the Oscars and was super disappointed.

The Hurt Locker set for wide release in Australia, after winning six Oscars

IT CONQUERED the Oscars with six gongs, now The Hurt Locker is set to make a bang in Australia, going on wide release from this week.

The drama about a bomb-defusing army unit in Iraq will be on show at 71 cinema screens from Thursday - up from its initial art-house release of 46 screens.

Last year The Hurt Locker was headed for a straight-to-DVD release in Australia, but distributor Roadshow reconsidered as critical praise and Oscar buzz mounted.

Thats only natural after a movie wins best picture, especially for one that was not widely released .

Honestly none of the films this year were special, but someone had to win.

My thoughts exactly, I thought it was stupid that they had ten nominations for Best Picture when the field was actualy quite low quality.

Kinda of what happens when you can't split the low quality movies :p

Wonder if NZ will do likewise.
