A Start for modding C2K4

I have been doing a little research in the past couple of hourz n I have been trying to extract the .GOB file
and herez some of the stuff that I came up with I m getting really close to a program that is going to at least let me view this file
so, here it is
What is a GOB file?
A gob file is simply a non-compressed container file. It can contain all different types of files that c2k4 uses, such as .cog, .jkl, .3do, .par, .spr, .ai, etc.

Why is it so big?
the file contains .wav files I believe and the texturez I are actually in this file (not sure either but 90% sure)
n all the files types mentioned above is in it

And Jedi lKnight the game uses Gob file too I downloaded this program which edits the gob files of JK n only of it so if any1 else wants to join me in tryin to xtract this files please post here so we dont have 2 do the same work twice

Guess what guyz as I was looking for a way 2 extract .GOB files ... sumhow sumway I got onto extracting the Pak file in the C2k4\data dir /.... turns out I was wrong bout the .wav files being the gob file the PAk file only contains the wav files i am pretty sure tht this is all the audio in C2k4 ... look around hte net for a program callled Dragon's Unpacker n even though it was actually for extracting .GOB files it duznt it actually reads the PAK file


so Give it a try if any1 want 2 change the commentary n insert their own I hvan tried that yet

so u can get the wav files from the pak file, edit em and then wat zip em back into the pak file?

good work..hope u can find a way to extract gob file!! i'll be trying as well.....though i dont think that players will be able to have specific faces coz in the game there are only 20 faces or something from which u can choose......so only even if editing becomes possible only 20 or so players will have specific faces and rest will be looking like them!! unless there a way to add files into the gob file instead of only editing(which is also not possible yet) faces will continue to be the bad part of the game!!!

Actually there is 1 the site hosting Dragons Unpacker hosts another software called sumtin Packer so thatz not a problem

SO I have started my try again ... and I want 2 get through this 2day...

I just learned tht there are 669 files in the gigantic GOB file ...
these files are from really small file size(497 bytes) to I think 100 mb or 10 mb will inform later

and acccordin to Filext.com 669 files are one of 2 things
1) 669 tracker module (wtf)
2) Unis Composer Music File

I kinda think its no. 2 prolly cuz I dunno wot hte first 1 is

make wot u want to make out of it

gUEss wot Wackojacko ... .I FOUND PNG FILES PNG FILES!!!

no havnt extracted the files yet cuz juss readin the file takes lot of a time on my 1.3 Ghz AMD processor wit 256 mb Ram

but therez a more serious issue how are we gonna post our stuff so tht otherz can download it?

Someone better find a way I m tryin my best to do this

once I post all the information .. then I will post screenz up n give all the info out once i m 100% doen so I dont have to keep on posting every single step

I tried editing it before but gave up after the files never extracted when i used conman.

This reading thing is taking so so long ............... sorry I thought I 'd b done in 15 mins but I dun think I will

its been 10 minz (guessin) n the readin rate is going so slow 215 kb per sec seems alot but its not

I have been tryign for the past hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


As I said I will post complete details once everytin is complete bcuz this happend b4 to me on another forum wit another game ...
