Sri Lanka?s Muttiah Muralidaran has slipped out of the top 10 bowlers in the Reliance Mobile ICC Rankings for the first time in over a decade while West Indies? Shivnarine Chanderpaul has returned to the top five in batting list.

Muralidaran, who skipped the series which the West Indies won 2-0, has now slipped below Pakistan?s Shahid Afridi who occupies 10th position.

Muralidaran, who leads the rankings for Test bowlers, was last out of the top 10 ODI bowlers in July 1997. The iconic spinner will now have a wait for a couple of months before attempting a return when the Asia Cup gets underway in Pakistan on 24 June.

In sharp contrast, Afridi has entered the top 10 for the first time in his career after a successful series against Bangladesh in which he bagged 12 wickets. The 28-year-old wrist spinner had started the series in 21st place and climbed 11 positions to join the elite company.

Hope he climbs higher everytime...
He is an excellent player to watch!!!

From what I read from the thread title I thought it meant Afridi was ranked the best bowler in the world.

Same here..:)
Anyway Great News.
Afridi has been awesome in the Bowling and some of the Fixtures in past one year helped him.:p

Afridi is so crap. He won't be in the top 10 for long. Bloody useless player.

He is in the top ten, so obviously his bowling is not that bad. You cannot discredit someone's bowling because their batting lacks temperament.

Afridi hada great series against Bangaldesh, Murali had a poor series by his standards against Windies....

Afridi's been churning out good ODI performances for a little while now, though.

Afridi is a good bowler. He bowls it with pace, extracts bounce, and has done well for a while now.

He's not a batsman. Do not judge him no that. He's a bowler who can bat a bit.

'Bat a bit' is a bit of a stretch, but you cannot rely on him. He is a match-winner with the bat though.

He would get dominated against an ODI side like Australia...

Playing the Bangas is nothing to size yourself up against.

Its not a big thing, but they don't even get big points if the players they get arent big. It all depends on the batsmen's rankings on how much their ranking goes up and how much it goes down!

Talking about Australia, he can own them any day with ball and bat...
If u forgot about his batting skills, how about the video I give you that shows the biggest six ever hit in the MCG or maybe the fastest hundred ever scored... If scoring the fastest hundred is by fluke, ask any Aussie to break his record, if they can...
If u can't respect someone's talent, don't disrespect either...

Yeah, he scored one good hundred and then he gets idolized...

How lame, he is a flash in the pan and has done f all since. Gets a six or two then gets out, useless.

He can't own Australia...Everytime he has come here he hasn't played well.
