Aren't Conspiracy Theories Fun? :)

Just to point out that the rules actually say that we would prefer religion not to be discussed, as many people have shown themselves to be incapable of discussing the subject in a mature manner.

If someone starts a thread specifically about religion, that will almost certainly be closed, but if a thread drifts towards a discussion where religion comes into it, it will be left alone as long as people behave themselves. Just expect it to be closed the minute someone starts acting like an idiot.

Erm, excuse me- But why exactly is talking about the Qu'ran against the forum rules? And what exactly is wrong with quoting a holy text that was written in the past? It still just as important now as it was back then.

I think you have some explaining to do.

Solidsnake said about the Quran explaining why some things go on today.

I was just saying I think using a book that was written 1,300 years before the event toook place is a bit silly. Like the whole Nostradamus predicted everything that goes on.

How can you predict what goes on in 2 years let alone 1,300? This isn't a slant on the religious text of the Quran more saying how can we predict what goes on?

Edit: Read Andrew, I think we can behave maturely on this.

Yeah I understand what you're trying to say, but there's a big difference between Nostradamus and the Qu'ran. Nostradamus was an unreliable and mentally unstable man who claimed that he could see into the future; the Qu'ran on the other hand is a holy book and thus is regarded as being more important. I'm not saying that either's teachings are correct, but the comparison can't be justified as there's a big difference between the two.

Good point.

A bad example, don't really think I can find an example though, you see my point though so it's irrelevant to an extent.

Nostradamus was the one who predicted about this in some other words. I cant remember exactly what he said as i had read it quite before, but i'll try put it up here...

In the future, on the 11'th day of the 9'th month, two huge metal birds will collide into two huge towers, which will fall down and bring great pain and suffering.

the quote was a bit long, forgive me i cant rmember all of it,

Rubbish

That one is made up, and all of the other "prophecies" people like to reference are just sufficiently vague that they can be used to fit to any event people choose. If they were valid predictions people would be able to figure out what they mean before the event they apparently forsee.

I got a book for christmas called "The Rough Guide to Conspiracy Theories". Its pretty thorough, its got a guide to pretty much every single popular conspiracy theory there was. You could look up any major world event in there and you could find a conspiracy for it.
Eg, theres one that someone shot Tutukhamen, another which says the Black Death (and pretty much every major epidemic like AIDS, SARS after that) was artificially engineered.

Anyway, the point of that post was?

Shot him with what?

AK-47, used by Aliens trained by the CIA.

Eh? Did I say shot? whoops :D

I meant assassinated, i.e. bludgeoned to death with something.

and you have a point, CIA feature in most of the more recent ones (20th century)

I've got that book. Good read.

hahahaha what a load of shite! The cctv images werent relased because its a sensitive issue ppl were in the plane and the pentagen!

Anything sensible that counters a conspiracy theory is normally something else that gets twisted slightly to seem like it supports the conspiracists. Either that or it just gets ignored for being inconvenient :p

Why not try the random conspiracy theory generator: http://songweaver.com/conspiracy.html

Here's some it gave me:

The FBI has actively concealed the fact that no one in Canada has been exposed to radiation leaked by conspiracy theorists worldwide.

William Jefferson Clinton leaked a story to the press implying that only one person located in an underground missle silo seven miles beneath your elementary school has hidden a minute tracking device on Bob Dole.

O. J. Simpson has been busy trying to insure that a prisoner trapped in John Malcovitch's head has extracted and frozen the ovaries of Jamie Lee Curtis.

The FBI mistakenly believes that someone who escaped alive from Orange County has spent the last two years using unknown technology to secretly record the intimate thoughts of Bob Dole.

Al Gore knows that it's only a matter of time before an illegitimate child of Elvis riding a nuclear missile aimed at a small island nation whose wherabouts are not widely known plans to destroy the secretarial staff of the Pentagon.

They're all true!
