STOCKPORT COUNTY VS PLYMOUTH ARGYLE

at Edgeley Park, attendance 894 (18 away fans)

Well both teams were looking to start off their pre-season with a win, Argyle to help them move up the championship and stockport to help them gain promotion from league 2.
Plymouth picked a very young side, with only Hodges, Norris and Buzsaky with previous championship experience.

Here is the Argyle side, who playe 3-4-1-2, for the first time under Matt West

GK: Josh Clapham
CB: Ryan Dickson
CB: Gary Sawyer
CB: Scott Laird
LM: Lee Hodges
CM: Luke Summerfield
CM: Dan Gosling
RM: David Norris
AM: Akos Buzsaky
ST: Reuben Reid
ST: Antony Mason

Argyle broke away early with Norris breaking down the middle before Reid swung and hit the post. Argyle were applying lots of pressure and the Stockport goalie was the only one preventing the score rapidly rising.

The deadlock was broken when the impressive David Norris, broke and hammered in a low cross, which Luke Summerfield obligingly smashed into the net. That was summers first goal for the club, that his father was once part of.

Argyle were applying all the pressure, Mason and Reid combined well to create 4 oppurtunities, with 1 hitting the crossbar and another against the post.

At half time, West brought on 2 subs as Marcel Seip came on for Hodges, and SEBlake coming on for Akos. They switched to an attacking 4-3-3.

Oppurtunities continued to flow, Norris, Blake and Gosling all challenging the keeper. But eventually Mason broke the goal drought as Buzsaky floated in a beautiful ball, Mason controlled and hit into the corner, making it 2-0.

Stockport got their only goal of the game, after Laird bought down the inactive stockport attacker. A penalty was rewarded, Clapham came close to saving it, but Dinning slotted it home in the 90th minuite and that was how it stayed
