This Year Is Our Year​

After leading his side through a perfect pre-season Arsene Wenger today stated that ‘This year is Arsenals year’ The side gained victories over Celtic, Boreham and Partizan. Arsenal produced football that could only be classed as magical during their awesome Pre-season build up to their opening premiership game in two days against long standing rivals Manchester United.

In the opening game of the pre-season Arsenal beat Celtic convincingly with two goals from Adebayor and one from Van Persie. Wenger used a solid formation that produced magnificent attack and solid defense in their conving victory over the Scottish champions.

The second game was against Partizan and for the second time they came off well with a 3-1 victory. Bendtner scored twice and Van Persie again with the lone goal. Arsenal played magical football once again and without worry came out on top against unknown rivals Partizan

The final game before their premiership opener was against weak English side Boreham Wood and it was a disappointing performance from the Arsenal players. They did come out on top 2-0 but didn’t capitalize on all their chances and deserved a lead of 3 or 4 goals by the end of the day. Eboue scored once and Fabregas also put away a stunner from just outside the box.

David Silva is versatile player; capable of playing on both the left or right of midfield, or as a traditional number 10. A player of slight build, he is often compared to Pablo Aimar, the player he replaced at Valencia. Wenger today announced that he would be at a press conference with Silva and Gilberto tomorrow. They will be accepting questions so please if you have any about the coming season please post them.

Today the press conference at the Emirates stadium was cancelled due to extra training hours. After an impressive pre-season and then the purchase of classy left midfielder ?Silva? Arsenal are now ready for their premier League opener against Manchester United. The match will be a very good one to watch and vital to both sides as they will want to start off with a victory against close rivals. Arsene announced that the side are ready and the game against Manchester United is one he is very much looking forward to.​

Arsenals season started like a dream when after only 1 minute Fabregas put a fantastic through ball into Man U’s half and gave Van Persie perfect position to draw out the keeper before flicking it over his head to put the gunners 1-0 within 2 minutes of their premiership season. As Van Persie reels away the fans go crazy and manager Arsene Wenger is standing looking incredibly happy as his side leap into the drivers seat here at Old Trafford.

Van Persie Puts Arsenal 1 up in the first minute​

At half time the score is still 1-0 and Arsenal are hanging on thanks to some solid defense and incredible keeping from Jens Lehman. United have been on constant attack and just haven’t taken their chances with both Rooney and Gigg’s missing one on ones with the man who seems unbeatable Lehman. The Arsenal strike force has been shut up since their opening goal but for them that is no issue as they go into the second half on top with a one goal lead.

Lehman the unstoppable saves another!​

Arsenal came out with a changed side as Gilberto came off for Senderos, Walcott came on upfront and Van Persie moved to left midfield. Arsenal moved five to the back hoping to hold the Man U defence off but after only 15 minutes Giggs broke through the defense and from just outside the box blasted one into the top left corner to level the scores and give Man U an edge to take the game, will Arsenal change tactics or will they stick to the same and look to try and slip in a counter attack to give themselves the 3 points.

Giggs levels the match with a thriller​

Its 1-1 here and Ronaldo is tripped inside the box!!!!!! The Arsenal players run up to the ref and its beginning to get interesting here as he waves them away and points to the spot. With Lehman keeping so well will he be able to keep it level and keep Arsenal in the game. Fletcher has been given the ball and the pressure is on him as he steps back to his mark. He runs up…………..strikes it well…………bottom left……..ITS IN……Wait………NO…..Lehman produces a magical save and keeps Arsenal in the game 1-1 and Fletcher is devastated, what an exciting minute of premier league football!!

Lehman continues his fantastic game with an awesome penalty save​

The rest of the match was end to end with Man U holding most of the possession but not quite capitalising in the end. After the match Wenger stated ‘We had little possession and fought hard, although we did not get 3 points, 1 is the next best thing’. Fergusson however was angry saying ‘1-1 and we could have scored 6, well played Lehman badly played Arsenal’. Overall the match was one which ended 1-1 and both sides will take one point from the match.
