Australia apologises to Aborigines

Interestingly, I was listening to the radio yesterday during the apology, and one of the aboriginal people they interviewed on the radio said something like 'My mother was an alcoholic, and my brother tried to rape me, so I suppose being taken away wasn't too bad for me.'

Aside from the fact the radio really need to check stories with people they're interviewing before they interview them, there might have been a few situations like it. But, the apology was an obvious thing to do, seeing as the aboriginals have been asking for it for so long, and Kevin Rudd will have gotten a lot of supporters out of doing it. It still bewilders me why John Howard didn't just say it, it was that obvious of a thing to do.
