I just saw a video on youtube. Australia vs Australia A? McGrath (Whom representing Australia) was bowling to Hayden (representing Australia A) and Hayden thrashed McGrath through square cover and it went straight to the boundary for 4. Hayden got in McGrath's face and McGrath shoved Hayden and went back to his bowling mark.
Game was held at the MCG & on the video it says the event was held in the 1994/95 season?
I'd like to see the results & scores, etc. Anyone got in scorecards? Can't seem to find any.

yeh for some reason i can remember watching a game like that years ago when i was little.

Well I believe that was back when the ACB (as CA was known back then) didn't feel that Zimbabwe could sustain an ODI series enough so they invited Australia A to play in it as well. Aus A made the finals and many were barracking for them too.

It was the B&H World Series back in 1994/95 (what is now the Commonwealth Bank Series). England and Zimbabwe were invited, and Australia decided to also invite Australia A to make it a four team tournament.

The matches involving Australia A were actually recognised as ODIs by Cricket Australia for a few years, but they have never been recognised as ODIs by anyone else.

Scorecards can be found here: http://www.cricketarchive.co.uk/Arc...nson_and_Hedges_World_Series_Cup_1994-95.html

off-topic. andrew nixon how do you know so much about cricket?

I remember hearing about this series,Paul Riffle i think it was,was playing awsomely for the Australian A's so in the final the Australias picked him in their squad only to play him as twelth man,how australian like is that!!!

It was at a time when the A side contained a lot of talent. Though both sides shared players such as Reifel and Bevan, the As took Blewett, Hayden, Martyn, Bevan and Ponting into most matches, as well as Paul Reifel and a senior Merv Hughes.

Would be good for the spectators to see that, but bad for the team as a whole. Don't like the idea of teammates sledging each other. Doesnt go well.

I believe it does happen in county cricket too !
So,should the ppl stop playing counties ?:p

lol yeah, most top bowlers would have had exchanges with the best batsmen in their country. I think someone suggested Hayden's sledge to McGrath was along the lines of "you should be bowling for us"
