Australian Test and ODI Line up prediction.

Johnson horrible in tests? He scored 50 against India at Perth!

Benno added 6 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...

Mitchell Johnson,
8 inns,
4 n.o.s
high score 50*
batting av 41.75.
(Current cricinfo stats) I'd say he's pretty good so far...

But Johnson's a bowler! His job isn't to bat well! He offers absolutely nothing as a bowler and I certainly wouldn't deem him Australian quality. He's a big step-down from your past quicks.

LOL

So you're selecting someone as a pure batsman to bat below Brett Lee in Tests and be a regulation number 9?

He's a bowler?

Anyway I figure I might as well have a crack at my ideal lineup for the 1st test against whoever is touring this year at home:
Jaques
Hayden
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds (I'd rather Dave Hussey but even I couldn't drop him on his form)
Haddin (wk)
Lee
Clark
McGain
Bollinger

Drop Johnson, never rated Casson, give Bollinger a go and McGain was the in form spinner of last year's domestic season.

Drop Johnson??? He took 4 wickets against West Indies recently.
Change opinion now do you?

What else has he done in his entire test career with the ball to merit a place in the side? He's your worst bowler, he wouldn't make most international sides to be honest, no clue why he's playing for Australia.

Dean, i'd have Katich in for Jaques.

Johnson was told by his team mates he was trying too hard to take a wicket every ball. Now he's regained confidence he's got back on form.
Weird that every West Indian was caught out in their ist innings...

if you watch him bowl and no just look at his stats he isnt a good bowler and does not deserve to be playing in the aussie test team

Test wise I'll persist with Casson but won't be fussed if McGain got his spot.

Jaques
Hayden
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Haddin (wk)
Lee
Casson/McGain
Clark
Bollinger/Noffke

What about Katich? He's back on form again. He should fill in for the ever injured Hayden.

Its fun reading this a year on.

Alot has changed. My new lineups would be

Ashes:
1 Katich
2 Hughes
3 Ponting
4 MHussey
5 Clarke
6 Watson
7 Haddin
8 Johnson
9 Hauritz (for Cardiff) then Lee
10 Clark
11 Hilfenhaus

T20 WC
1 Haddin
2 Warner
3 Ponting
4 Clarke (shouldn't be in the team though)
5 DHussey
6 MHussey
7 Watson
8 Hopes
9 Jounson
10 Lee/Hilfenhaus
11 Bracken

Future ODI
1 Waston
2 Marsh
3 Ponting
4 Clarke
5 DHussey
6 MHUssey
7 Haddin
8 Hopes
9 Johnson
10 Lee
11 Bracken

If Marsh injures than Haddin open and bring in Symonds.

However if i were a selector this would be my team
1 Haddin
2 Marsh
3 Watson
4 Ponting
5 DHussey/Clarke
6 MHussey
7 Warner (late hitting)
8 Hopes
9 Johnson
10 Lee
11 Bracken

Some stats also

Dussey ODI career is close to being done and dusted. At full strength I don't see a spot for him. And if Hughes continues his OD form he could be a bolter for the side although I don't know how you get him in yet.

Next ODI series
Watson
Haddin
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Hussey
Fegurson (Hopes if extra bowler is needed)
Lee
Hauritz
Johnson
Bracken
