I've decided this bug since it is quite a big bug deserves its own thread. The following are the problems that I encounter.
Here are the traits I've found.
* Only occurs when you save the game. If you save the game and resume after selecting a different lineup to what the computer thinks you should select you get stuck with what the computer wants you to use. However if the computer selects a different lineup they can keep there own one.
* The default lineup is entirely dependent on the pitch you are playing on. For example, I played a game against Pakistan in NZ on a normal & hard pitch, the lineup the computer chose was as follows:
Sinclair, Richardson, Fleming, Astle, McMillan, Cairns, Hart, Styris, Vettori, Tuffey & Bond.
When I played against Bangladesh on a dusty wicket the computer selected the following lineup:
Sinclair, Richardson, Fleming, Astle, McMillan, Cairns, Hart, Vettori, Tuffey, Bond & Wiseman.
* Opening my roster.pak file in a hex editor here is the following dump of Paul Wiseman:

The data is exactly the same. So unfortunatly the location of the default batting lineups dependent on the pitch must be hidden elsewhere...
* Where is the default lineup kept after you start a game and save it? Well this data seems to be appended to the end of the save game file. I'm not sure on the exact details of whether this keeps the data on what you select as your preferred lineup, and if that is different whether it just resides in memory and once you start your game again then you get given what the computer chooses.
This is getting more and more interesting, however I'm off to watch NZ get beaten by the Paki's so I will look into it later today possibly.
