In a follow up to the Beckham topic on here. Sky Sports News have annouced that he has signed for Real. Story from Sky Sports:

"David Beckham will join Real Madrid.

The England captain has reportedly agreed a four-year contract with the La Liga title contenders after Manchester United accepted a ?17.5 million bid.

That fee - ?10 million less than was expected - could rise to ?25 million depending on appearances and the 28-year-old enjoying success in Madrid, possibly including Real reclaiming the Champions League.

And Beckham has snubbed Barcelona to join the Catalan club's major rivals, Sky Sports News understands.

Providing he passes a medical the day before, he will formally put pen to paper on July 2 to join Real's galaxy of stars - including Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Raul, Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane - at the Bernabeu.

Beckham's agents SFX said: "The deal is imminent, if not concluded."

Beckham becomes Manchester United's most expensive sale ever as he ends a career at Old Trafford which spans a decade, 397 games and 88 goals.

Sky Sports' La Liga expert Guillem Balague said that Beckham signed a pre-contract agreement with Real on May 12 and will earn ?90,000 a week, putting him on a par with the nine-times European Cup winners' top earners.

New Barcelona president Joan Laporta based his election campaign on his intention to sign Beckham, but the Leytonstone-born midfielder, recently awarded the OBE, never opened talks with Barcelona.

Barcelona themselves attempted to bring the long-running transfer saga to a close by giving Beckham an ultimatum to sign by the end of the week - but the right-sided midfielder opted for Real instead.

Beckham's departure was first mooted as United faced Real in the Champions League quarter-finals and gathered pace when Sir Alex Ferguson left him on the bench when the two teams met at Old Trafford.

Beckham himself is currently travelling to Japan."

As the New York Post said regarding his trip to the US, "Dont Come Beck"! Hopefully now the Man United supporting England Manager will remove the captaincy from this most overhyped and overrated player.

Be interesting to see how he fits in at the Real Madrid Allstars. Will his game flourish or will he be another English export who doesn't cut the mustard overseas?

I heard Beckham would wear 77. He should be so fussy about his shirt number and just get on with it, theres no way he will get 7 from Raul - a personal friend of the Madrid president and the real boss in Madrids dressing room.
