yeah and clarke is 24.
Why do players from western countries start so late? Pathan is 20, harbhajan is 25..

generally, in australia, a player has to really show dominance in the domestic scene for far more than a year to get into the squad and then, needs one of the other players to drop out of the team, which for australia, is rarely due to form.

so you get the odd one, like clarke, who is in the team very quickly because he is very cricket-smart and technically strong, but then you get a load of guys like katich, hussey or the retired darren lehmann who spend many years at the top of the aussie domestic game before they can even attempt to gain a position. michael bevan never managed a solid test career, in spite of being the most successful odi batsman australia has ever had and is now spending his twilight years dominating the domestic cricket.

there are a lot of guys like nathan bracken, martin love or even stuart macgill who have simply failed to impress selectors enough, in spite of being regularly impressive. many players in this predicament are still rewarded with contracts however.

still again there are guys like cameron white, dan cullen and shaun tait, who we arent really sure about, but we can give them contracts because theyre quite impressive for young players. these ones are usually about 20-25.

but all this is largely because of the talent base in australia. some of that is due to good facilities, some of it is through the ability of so many aussie kids to have a good game of cricket in their own backyard and then of course there is infrastructure like the cricket academy and the institute of sport.

I wonder how many international players under the age of 25 would actually make it into other teams, given the opportunity, though.

WHy is there no name of Suresh Raina here?
i got to open a new thread on him. THis guy has scored 39ball 80 and has scored at least 50 in 25 matches out of 50 he has played

In making that 261, he made a 200 run stand with the No.11, STUART MACGILL, and we all know how bad he is. Dom Thornley, Phil Jaques, Shaun Tait, Marcus North, Brad Haddin, Dan Cullen, David Hussey, Brad Hodge and even Chris Rogers who hit out against the Aussies in their lead up match, are names to watch one the ageing Australian side introduces young blood

I think it could challenge most of the test teams in the world

You're on crack.

Bangladesh would trash Australia A

I think AB De Villiers is incredible. In a few years he'll be up there with Jacques Kallis. I reckon he could take the Aussies apart the next time they play South Africa!

Because a lot of people can be a star at Domestic level, should I remind you of Aakash Chopra, Graham Hick or Matthew Elliott?

Ed Joyce of Middlesex will be in the England team sooner rather than later.

Didn't Ed Joyce play for Ireland in the ICC trophy?

On the topic of Australia A, when India toured Australia the A side kept Chopra scoreless for 1 hour. Matthew Elliott had his chance, and last year returned when Ponting was out against Sri Lanka and scored 0 and 1.
