Have a look at those byes!!



In almost every game, there are 1 or 2 times "4 byes" conceded by the keeper, but this is absolutely ridiculous! 92 byes, that means 23 times 4 byes past the keeper!
The keeper was a certain Vaughn (where's the "a"?) van Jaarsveld, playing for Lions and SA. He's not rated as a keeper but as a batsman, though.

Might be something Childish Things should have a look at for a patch...reducing the amount of byes. As I remember, A.B. De Villiers is a terrible keeper too playing for SA 1st XI.

According to Cricinfo, he's not even an occasional wicket-keeper (and does indeed spell his name Vaughn.) 92 looks excessive but it's good that you're penalised for giving non-specialists the gloves. Adds to the realism. Although I don't like the way the batsman always plays and misses at deliveries that go for four byes.

De Villiers has only kept wicket for RSA on a handful of occasions, maybe that's a true reflection of his abilities at Test level.

To pace bowlers - yes. Inept against spin, although he's only ever had to keep to the 'quality' of Boje and Adams. I can't forget how he was embarrassed keeping to Murali.
