Police Officers in the UK?

I was just wanting to know what you all think about them, as this is what I am planning my life around becoming, a police officer. I am studying Public Services national BTEC Diploma at college now, and then when I have finished college I will get a Admin role within the police, then finally when I become 21 apply to become a police officer.

I wanted to know your opininons because a lot of people i know hate them and call them 'pigs' along with they dont do any work. However I think these claims are ridiculous. The job is a lot harder than most people think, and I personally Respect them for the job they do.

Views & Opinions please....

I have no idea tbh. Cant be bothered enough to look much into it.

But surely if you want to become one you would have the background Info needed? Because thats what I have done, I have researched it and have a lot of knowledge about it, because that is how much I want to become one.

I am planning to get round to that in the next few weeks so far I've only been to a few sites.

I wouldnt want to be a copper. The amount of druggos and nut cases you have to deal with is disgusting. Especially the danger that comes with it.

Also cops have to attend fatel accidents. And alot need councelling from what they witness.

Yes, This i do know about. However I dont think I would be scared mentally when I have been to Fatel accidents, as before deciding to become a police officer, I was going to be a SOCO (Scene's of crime Officer)

I have a real respect for the cops. I think they do a great job and get little reward for it with the way they are treated. All I can say is rather you than me. Are you joining as a police-man or as an actual officer through their officer training centre?

I also did a BTEC along with 3 A Level's soooo easy :D Gotta love them

They do their job pretty well I have to admit.

I don't know if it is different where you live, but with GMP every applicant has to go through the application stage which includes Physical, and mental tests, then they will recieve all training off the GMP.

So sad to see that Michael Todd has been found dead:

The inquiry into the death of Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Michael Todd will look into the possibility he committed suicide.
The father-of-three was found dead at the foot of a cliff near Bwlch Glas on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources have revealed notes addressed to Mr Todd's family were found close to where his body was discovered on Snowdon in north Wales.
