Noticed today that the West Indian Cricket Board have approved changes to the way cricket is ran in the Caribbean, with large changes especially to be made to the West Indian First Class competition.
Directors approve 19 historic changes | WEST INDIES CRICKET BOARD

Some of the key points include
- Coach and captain added to the selection panel, captain in advisory capacity
- 15 contracted players per each Domestic Side
- Reduction of the FC competition from 7 sides to 6 (I assume this will mean that CCC will be removed)
- Each domestic side to play at least 10 games per year
- Structured cricket all year round for WI players
- Full professionalization of the FC system, including coaches, and administration
- The establishment of an 'Elite Player Pathway' and the 'West Indian High Performance Program' to help the transition into the WI side
- Making it a priority to improve the pitches in the Caribbean
- West Indies Captains Council- using the former greats and captains of WI in a coaching and advisory capacity.

The changes look promising, especially the changes to the First Class Competition, what are other people's take on it?

Ye making their domestic season is long overdue, they play too little cricket.

Interesting that they are making the captain a selector. Just recently Michael Clarke who was a selector under AUS "argus review" resigned the role, due to the stress it caused him.

I think their domestic teams should copy the caribbean premier league and let regional players play for any island, instead of the traditional island vs island matches. That way you would certainly be able to spread around the talent more evenly & make the domestic competition stronger.

Wonderful to see that the board is taking some steps after all and it has already started to pay dividends. You can see some of players are playing better in the FC competition than they normally do in the shorter formats. Jason Mohammad is toping that list. What a season he is having! A double century just at the right time for him. Hopefully, the other decision will work and continue to work in our favor.

Those are some good and exciting measures taken by the WICB, hopefully they will serve their purpose!
