Hundreds of fans queuing for Cricket World Cup tickets have caused a wall to collapse at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Crowds were trying to snare tickets to the India - West Indies game on March 20 when a wall gave way, injuring one person.

"The wall is at the periphery of the stadium and a small portion of it collapsed when fans pressed against it," Tamil Nadu Cricket Association secretary KS Viswanathan said.

This is becoming more like the Commonwealth games by the day. Just too many short cuts being taken over the safety of the people.

From what my grandpa told me he said that the wall wasn't really part of the stadium but was a really old compound wall that was along the line of the area. Over a hundred people were sitting on it and it fell. He said that in the paper it wasn't really reported as that big of a deal as people stayed in line after the wall fell to get the tickets. Either that is a testament to how cricket crazy the country is or how much a non-issue this was.

Could be wrong though. MA Chidambaram is an excellent venue, don't really expect this.

That wall was not a part of the chennai stadium it way too much before then the entrance.. Like cricketman said it was part of old compound.. Not a big issue. And it never deserved a thread
