Clevedon Town Career - Post/Pre-Season Update

Ouch, unlucky the last few games mate. You're not getting hammered in all the games, and if things were going differently you could easily be around 15th place. Keep it up mate, next season may be better.

If I wanted to make sure I didn't want to come last I would've deducted them more points than that ;)

I am determined to keep playing to try and find a win. Until then this game is not over, although I fear I may be playing it for the rest of my life. Next month you'll witness us take the lead twice in a game only to see another fluke goal fly in and then a penalty scored against us hands us nil pois!

Another awful month that has seen us drop points left right and centre. Two late goals cost us draws against Swindon and Bedford, although our draw with Truro was an extremely good result and we may have even deserved more.

The biggest blow to the nads was our 3-2 loss to Oxford City. We took the lead twice before another fluke goal from around 35 yards out put them level. We then gave away a penalty and they held on for the win.

We are now 25 games without a win, just 12 off of Derby's record of 37 games without victory. Who knows, maybe it will be a record breaking season after all ;)

We've not won away all season, so I suppose we do have a better chance at home. Although, our crowd has slowly diminished as the season has gone on and soon I imagine there will be more away supporters than home :p

You have been so unlucky. Late goals are killers. By the looks of your low amount of shots you may need a few quality midfielders in.

Hopefully you can keep picking up a few points through draws though and maybe a win or two. Good luck.

Well we have had 14 draws, tied most in the league. We are just like Portsmouth in real life, except I'm not near the standard of Avram Grant.

I hate this game! :p

Treva,
This might sound stupid or something, but reading this career has actually been far more enjoyable than reading a lot of others... you are a struggling team, fighting to win every game, and that is far more realistic than just winning every game. I sometimes get a bit disappointed when reading games that turn out unrealistic by the manager winning every game in their league.. as well as my QUB one, slightly, although I still have fun playing that and I don't think I'm anywhere near the level of dominance that I could be.

Football isn't all about winning in real life. For all the teams that are promoted, there are plenty that are relegated. Managers do get relegated, and it is rare to see this in a game of FM when plenty of people seem to be able to master the game so easily. It's a refreshing change.. I hope you don't take this personally that I like seeing you lose, but to see a game with some actual realism is decent.

I have faith anyway... if you do end up getting relegated, I am confident you'll be able to build on your squad, if you keep your job, and bounce back up.. will definitely be a couple of interesting months and then seasons. Please continue this story.

Thanks very much Blake. It can be very frustrating but I plan to continue. For some reason I just absolutely suck on this years version. On 08 I was pretty good but nothing I try pays off, and I have had zero luck. I suppose that might be as I've only played career games with Clevedon and Droylsden who were 15th when I joined them. Was contemplating starting an Arsenal save but that post has forced me to keep this one going, at least for another season anyway.

I wish now that I had not bought good players. I hope Tier 9 will be a challenge for me. Let's just hope you can go straight back up next season.

Who says we are going down? ;) I still have some hope of a last gasp survival. Need to win about 3 games though. Injuries are the key, if we can stay injury free we might be able to regain some form.

It hurts to see you lose and draw all those games, but it makes the game more desirable to play and to try and find formations and players that work for you, sometimes losing is more fun than winning a it makes you think more. I'm loving this diary and wish I could play FM with my singaporean save! Good luck for Feb. We believe in you!
