if the pitch is still damp on thursday collingwood could be brought in for giles

They didn't need to look at the pitch, they needed to look at the scoreboard.

He is a good bowler, fielder and batsman. What does he need to do more before he wants to get included? Hit triple centuries?

Reminds me of the Neil Fairbrother situation. Only ever played in ODIs, only a handful of tests. Was always thought of as solely a one day player. There is a story that Dennis Compton was once watching a Lancashire v Middlesex 4 day game at the Oval with an England selector. Fairbrother scored a double century, Compton said to the England selector that he should be playing test cricket, and the selector said that he was just a one day player.

At last the english selectors are showin that they have some brains. Why would you drop ur in form player. That's how pieterson got selected didn't he.

It's fair for them to be reserved about changing their team, mind you, saying "we think he sucks, so we dropped him" isn't exactly media savvy, whereas "the pitch conditions suggest we may need this option" is very a diplomatic way to introduce (and possibly keep) a player.

I would put him in. He's hit 4 centuries in hsi last 5 CC matches. Very good player. One of the best fielders in the world.

I would defintiely select him. He has shown in the ODI's that he has the temperment. Good fielder and handy bowler.
