Commentary Editing - Can We Crack It?

I actually replaced Maxwell stuff. It was him saying saying how bad the LBW call was. I can't see how there could be several of these.

Looking at the number of files and their names, I suspect that there are at least 2 versions of Richie saying each player's name
There are two versions. An 'up' phrasing and a 'down' phrasing. I've replaced both and it makes no difference :(

Has anyone managed to open aems.big? Every time I try I get an error saying that it has an invalid header.

I'm wondering if this file has something to do with the peroblem.

Im not sure if this will help but,I saw this xml files with every player name and commenatry Id along with it(it was inside the .gob file),so if you think that it would be of any help then ill post in that attachment.

That would help later on if we could actually get the commentary into the game. Currently won't be much help.

I cant exactly understand the problem,are you getting error commands while importing commentary,or is it that that there is no change in commentary when you are importing the files,because music seems to be working.

This is What I Found So Far !!

i deleted all the commentary files of player names (e.g - List_player etc )
but i found that the size of the BIG file was the same :eek:
there wasnt a difference even by a byte :(

i thought my memory wouldnt have read it, so i opened the BIG file again
to check whether it has been deleted and found that the Files were deleted !!
but when i started a match, richie was chanting the player names :mad

Then i deleted the WHOLE BIG File to check whether it is having any other
source. and i found that THERE ISNT ANY OTHER SOURCE EXCEPT "pbp.big"

i think, the commentary BIG file has been locked or there is some protection !
i cant think of anything else right now.

Click on rebuild big file, I am pretty sure that you will notice a decrease in file size :).
I think in c2004 there was 2 commentery for each player one so this might be the case for c2005 too.

i tried the rebuild thing. it worked out ! :)

but when i played the game , theres no commentary at all :(
time to re-install c2k5 :crying

So what happens if you import the commentary and then rebuild?
Maybe this is it? I've been trying replacing all sorts of bits with no success. It doesn't make sense that we can't replace stuff in the pbp.big file. But maybe rebuild is it!!!! I've never used "rebuild", and I'm a total n00b with this stuff, but maybe that's why the rebuild function is there in BigGUI? This is such a mystery
:mad

BTW, I asked before but I'll ask again: Has anyone managed to open aems.big?

{edit}
I did a rebuild and ended up with no commentary, just as happened to jk1 6_4 :(
Luckily I had backed up pbp.big and replacing the rebuild with the original fixed the loss of commentary.

I'm wondering if sid can help us? He's been doing a lot of hexploration of the .exe. Maybe there's something in the .exe which is causing this?

My only other theory is that pbp.big & aems.big are somehow inextricably related. It seems odd that aems.big will not open in BigGUI.{/edit}
