After about 5 hours of use my laptop screen goes all funny. The words at the top where the title for the window goes blurry and the words on the screen just disappear.
I can't access my task manager to see what is going on.

Once I restart the comp it's all fine again.

I guess its a videocard problem, try running with lower settings and see if it makes a difference.

Why cant you access task manager?

Think it might be a virus. I can still switch between windows but there is no words on it. The task manager problem only occurs when this problem occurs.

Sounds like your PC is running at 100%, so something is stealing all your memory. When you restart, with no programs running what is the occupancy level? Also if you can can you post a screenie of all the running processes.

By no programs running you mean running in safe mode?
Firefox does use up a lot of memory sometimes.

No, I just mean as your pc starts.

The following processes are worth looking into.

Mathlab - Not sure what this is, do you have Mathworks software installed?
CTSVCCDA - This is a CD Rom driver from Creative, its not really required on faster CD Roms drives, you should be able to disable this.
SMSS - Could be normal, could be a trojan. See what happens if you terminate it.
CTSyncU - Not sure what this is, I guess its related to the Creative driver above.

It's about 0% when my PC starts unless my anti virus is updating.

I have mathworks installed, only have the one Creative thing in start up so I'll disable that, can't end the SMSS as it's critical according to the system.

Ok so I guess that's a legitimate SMSS process then. I cant see anything else wrong with those processes, theres some Bluetooth stuff, some Firewall stuff and the usual Windows stuff so it could take you back to a hardware issue which as you have a fuzzy display I guess is more likely. If you have access to a monitor try plugging it into that and turning off your lcd screen, also as I said earlier try different resolutions. Unless someone else has heard of this I fear there is not much you'll be able to do, thats the problems with laptops, everything is integrated and usually custom built for the model.

I'll take a picture off it when it happens again. It only happens after a long period of use, it's fine for hours.

Yea could be, the right side of my laptop where the heat is let out is quite hot even though I have one of those cooling fans.

At least you have a computer right now, my HD was overheating so I took it back to the shop where I got it from and they're running tests on it :p
It sounds like a heat problem, especially from the fact that it does it after a number of hours.
Try running a program called Speedfan (Google for site)
It's better running it when your computer has been on for a while though.

Well I have overheated two hdd on this laptop :( So yea probably is overheating although this is the only hdd where it has happened.

I'll give that program a go.
