The first match of the season for leicestershire started today with Highlights being broadcast by (BSKYB) Sky Sports. A warm day promised a good game of cricket and even better, to the delight of both capatains a flat hard track. Captain for leicestershire HD Ackerman won the toss and chose to Bat first and said that his team was aiming for 400 and anything more was a bonus.
FRIZZELL COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO
Leicestershire v Durham
Grace Road, Leicester
Umpires: M.Benson, I.Gould
Toss: Leicestershire (Bat First)
Leicestershire 1st Innings April 14th 2005 11:15pm Day 2
HD Ackerman stated at the the toss that he was aiming for 400 however, poor batting and some good fielding and bowling has restricted them to 356. However it look at one point it would be much much worse.
At 205-7 it seemed that Leicestershire would be all out on the first day of the county championship match, however a great partnerhip from J.Maunders and P.Defreitas ensure that this would ahppen.
Eventually Maunders went for a magnificant 113 (245) and Defreitas went for 49 (63).
-Maunders reaches his century.
L.Plunkett starred with the ball for Durham taking 3 for 112 and the England start paceman finshed wicket-less unlike his other bowlers.
