Your Cricket Cricket Bats; Playability or Looks?

We all know that a flash looking bat says it all, but would you ever say no to a plain, or even horrid looking bat even if it had been successful, gotten good reviews and scored runs at the highest level.

I myself have a Kookaburra, but luckily they both look decent, and play well.

So would you give up a decent bat because of the design on it?

For me its all about how comfortable it feels, like a light-weight bat suits my style of play. I don't really look at the bats look, just how it feels.

For me, its gotta have both.
of course, the playability is important, gotta be comfortable, can't afford injury. Even if it was plain, i'd replace stickers, grips, ect to make it look alright.

All about the playability for me. The nicer it looks, the less you want it to get battered. Mine needs to be the right weight, length, etc where it just feels right

Today it's all about how thick the bat is, people want huge heavy bats just do they can look like there stars from TV. People think that the thicker the edges the better the middle. This is totally wrong.

That kind of worries me, because ive got a bat which has massive edges and i reckon its bigger than Inzi's bat :p

But then again i rarely use it as it was a gift, but ill tell you, if you connect with the red thing, you dont see the ball for a good while afterwards :p

I bat at 10/11; If it has a handle and willow on the end then it'll do

:p
Well i feel sorry for specialist tail-enders, they dont get much confidence on a bad day with the bat, its come in, trod out :( Then again last season it was much like that for me around my injury period.

If you have seen the Kookaburra Genesis this is a prime example of good middles. This bat has very small edges but as you can see it has an outstanding middle.

First shot I played with my Genesis last season was a firm foward defensive, it came straight out the middle and went straight back past the bowler for four :)

Shame it cracked a few games later off a thin leg glance, picking up a free replacement next week, can't wait to get my 'baby' back :p

For me it's all about weight, and pick-up (and obviously how good the bat actually is) if anything I often think a completely sticker free bat, with a standard grip, and a nice new coating of oil looks far sexier than some of the designs you see these days.

Just about every Grade player in WA has a Fusion, it makes me sick! All I see every weekend are these old geezers coming out with there round bellies and fags in their top pocket swinging a 18cm edged Fusion.

I particulary look at a bat first, because it it looks good then it probably is good. Then I feel, I like bats with skinny handles so I can get a nice tight comfortable grip on it.

I have a Michael Clarke V23 bat at the moment, but when the season starts up again Im gonna get a new bat.
