INDIA A VS SOUTH AFRICA A
Siraj secures thrilling win for India A in penultimate over

Rudi Second scored 94 in each innings but it went in vain

South Africa A put on a tremendous show of defiance on the final day of the first unofficial Test in Bangalore, but unfortunately for them, it came to an end a couple of overs too early. Mohammed Siraj, wicketless on Day 4 up until his final over, finished what he had started with a ripping new ball spell yesterday as he got No.11 Duanne Olivier caught behind to complete his five-for and deliver a thrilling win for the hosts.

It wasn't supposed to be as hard for India A. Siraj had got rid of the cream of South Africa A's batting and they only needed a further six wickets to procure victory when the final day began. But just like the first innings, wicketkeeper-batsman Rudi Second turned out to be the visitors' best batsman. Unlike his positive approach the first time around, this time Second was prepared to dig in tenaciously. He found a good ally in Shaun von Berg who came in fairly early in the morning after Zubayr Hamza's dismissal for 63.

Together, they batted for over 50 overs, adding 119 for the sixth wicket and ensuring that the visitors didn't lose a single wicket in the entire middle session.

It was seam bowler Rajneesh Gurbani who gave India the much-needed boost early in the final session as he dismissed von Berg for 50. Dane Piedt hung around for a while but was nicked off by Navdeep Saini, and soon after came the crushing blow of Yuzvendra Chahal trapping Second LBW. It was the second time in the match that Second was dismissed on 94. At this point, there 14 overs still left in the day and South Africa A had just two wickets in hand.

Malusi Siboto and Beuran Hendricks tried their best but it wasn't long before Hendricks edged Axar Patel to the keeper. It set the stage nicely for Siraj to fittingly seal the win and complete his maiden 10-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

Brief scores: South Africa A 246 & 308 (Rudi Second 94, Zubayr Hamza 63; Mohammed Siraj 5/73) lost to India A 584/8 by an innings and 30 runs

I gave credit to Axar more because his 30 odd over he gave only 43 runs in the second innings but Chahal was toothless in both innings giving away some 168 runs for 2 wickets in the match.
