David shepherd To retire

:crying The games most renowned characters is about to retire, yes Shepherd as we all know is one of the finest umpires ever is going to retire.

Shep will be 65 in December and will stand in his last test will be the second Pak WI test match.

His last odi will be AUS Eng at oval in july.

His first class match will be Gloucestshire and Glamoran on September.

Sad to see him retire

Yes, Shep's loss as an umpire is great. But I think the umpiring talent in the world is developing pretty well. Now hopefully some more of the older guys, ahem Bucknor ahem, take a lead and leave while they're on top. Bucknor's already sunk a few steps down, on recent form.

It's some kind of superstition; 111, or multiples of, are seen as unlucky in English cricket, so for some reason Shep finds it comforting to stand on one leg whenever the score reaches that, much to the amusement and cheers of the watching crowd .

And that David Shephard that died, I read it too. That was someone else, a cricketer, not umpire.

Not a very good one, if it was.

David Sheppard died in March.

David Shepherd is alive and well and will retire later this year.

They're not the same person!
