Forbes' list of world's highest-paid athletes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MS Dhoni is the only cricketer to feature in the list of top 100 earning sportsmen. However despite being the only sportsmen Dhoni doesn't feature at the backend of the list but finds himself at a relatively high #23.

At #23 Dhoni is naturally ahead of many of the most popular global athletes, which includes the likes of global football stars like Rooney (#34), Luis Suarez (#73), Yaya Toure (#83), Eden Hazard (#90), etc, and also some top NBA stars like Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul.

Unsurprisingly, bulk of Dhoni's earning come from endorsements. In regard to earnings from endorsements alone Dhoni is #10 on the list.

The next highest earning cricketer after Dhoni is Sachin Tendulkar who earns $18 mil, but he doesnt feature on the list. So its seems that after Dhoni drops out of this list, there could be a while before another crickter gets on this list.

After Dhoni may be Kolhi

That's a very old list. I follow motorsport very closely and both Lewis Hamilton & Sebastian Vettel have signed two very fat contracts while Kimi Raikkonen after his renewal will be bumped down quite a few places.

Good to see him in the top 100 but would be better if he is generous by heart too.Despite earning so much we don't find him anywhere in the charitables list

If only you bothered to read how that list was generated. Its basically a socially generated list by fans of athletes, and it is about as credible as generate results from a random polling thread at PC. Plus you could nominate any player and then vote for her/him multiple times

Sounds about right for Hamilton. He is supposed to be earning around 30mil + bonuses per year. Plus endorsements. Would end up in the 45mil range max? Maybe gets bumped a couple of spots

Actually, these chaps have a lot of 'performance' clauses as well and the dude has been winning everything. Unlike football, it's hard to understand the exact numbers in motorsport. For instance, rumour has it that Vettel earns 45mil in his first year, 35 in the second and 25 in the third. This is a guaranteed pay but there are perks for podiums, points, wins and championships.
