Direct X 9 in safe mode

I could be wrong, (because I haven't had to start my PC in safe mode for so long I forget when) but I thought it DirectX worked in safemode.

What problem are you having thats making you want to run in safemode anyway?

i was just wondering coz i started my pc in safe mode coz my pc runs so slow and is faster there. i opened uo something that requires direct x and i get a error.

Im not sure if it is direct x or something else.

Well in safe mode mostly everything is disabled so perhaps that's why its running faster.

For starters your video card is doing next to no work in safe mode.
Any programs you have in your startup dont load either.

ah my video card, that might be it, how can i make like most of the things work in safe mode that work in normal.

The idea of safe mode is not to run your PC in it, but to use it to find out whats causing a problem. If your pc doesn't start for example you can run in safemode and try turning things on and off or changing settings and then see if it makes a difference when you restart.

If you think its your videocard the best thing to do is to download the latest drivers, then remove your old driver, then install the new one.

ok i have a app that runs on normal but will not run on safe mode, this may be due to direct x. does anyone know how i can check if direct x is on.

Thanks for your help kev

i have checked another directx app and that does not work.

goto start then run and type dxdiag

ITs not due to directx - Windows does not load your graphics drivers to gain compatbility in case you have a faulty driver ;) Now without the driver directx cannot talk to the graphics card and hence no such applications work ;)

ok thanks guys, kshitiz you know a lot like kev, how can i make my driver etc.. work on safe mode.

Sorry but you cant - basically because safe mode is meant for loading up windows when you cant in the normal mode. It doesnt load the driver because if you have a faulty driver it wont load ( Only in xp i guess, not Vista ) . Safe mode is not meant for running pc faster :p
