IPL Do you mute the TV while watching IPL?

Haysman and Morrison make me want to tear my ears off. They are actually so bad. So is Bhogle and every one of the subcontinental commentators.

Doull > all.

Danny Morrison should be burnt alive.

:getyou

"Well there you have it folks .... I am being burnt alive .... and haven't the crowd all gone up"

It's true that at times the commentary is quite rubbish, but I just can't watch sports with no sound.
This.

It is irritating when they go on talking all possible crap but still watching sports without sound isn't enjoyable.

:laugh so true, he just keeps talking to fill the silence
That seems to be a general problem. Anyone whose seen an Australian T20I will probably have the phrase "rock n roll form of the game" burned into their memory.

Commentary optional viewing? Would be aite with just the crowd.

I like to listen to it, as it's just so bad. My personal favourite is Danny "I LOVE continually saying DOUBLE D's because like me it's a BIG TIT and love to EXAGGERATE words wHICH really don't NEED exaggerating." Morrison. He is a legend.

Yeah Morrison is a pretty loud and over-exuberant commentator. Sometimes he's ok but he goes a bit over the top at times.

I hate the half scripted commentary and I hate the ads.

I think all New Zealanders are happy he's been kicked out of the country tbh.

If you're watching cricket which has 5.1 channel sound and they set it up right, disabling the centre speaker gets you just the crowd. I've been able to do that with Nine's coverage before.

Yeah, I've never been a fan of Morrison. Good bowler, but terrible commentator.
His calls of:

"And THAT, ladies and gentlemen is DLF! MAXimum for the DOUble Ds"

Just make me wanna mute it. But yeah, you can't have cricket without commentary. I think most of the others are OK - Jeremy Coney will always be one of the great commentators, and imo Doull has improved heaps, and says some quite interesting stuff. I actually don't mind most of the Indian commentators.

No use in having the option to switch the commentary off in Channel 9`s coverage though. Their`s is arguably the best commentary team out there. ESPNSTAR during India`s tours to Australia/England are superb with their coverage. Its a pity that they don`t do India`s home games and that shitty NEO Cricket has the rights for that. I`d love to mute the commentary during NEO`s coverage.

I don`t know if any Indian members here used Tata Sky when it was first launched. It had that feature under the ACTIVE SPORTS section where you could switch off the commentary and just listen to the crowd noise as well as a couple of additional camera angles which used to be always on, without cutting into ad breaks.

TATASky, for the non-Indians here is a joint venture between Sky Broadcasting (UK) and the TATA group in India who provide interactive DTH television service in India.

IPL has very poor commentators

Russell Arnold is poor (but why attack his syntax?).
What about Danny Morrison? He sounds to me singularly unsuited to any form of broadcasting [Cork is not too far behind]. Sunil Gavaskar and Ian Bishop are as good to listen to as they were to watch. But none of the IPL team sound like trained sports commentators. Hell, they make even make (UK provider) ITV look classy.
