Ian Bell plays a pull shot on his way to a seemingly match winning 190 runs

England captain Michael Vaughan was given not out to an early leg before wicket appeal, but he was eventually caught out for 26 runs. Ian Bell played well during a cautious innings to score a half century, and he was then given not out to a leg before wicket appeal when he had scored 78 runs. The Warwickshire Bears batsman did not let this affect him and he scored a century. It was starting to look like Zimbabwe were never going to be able to get him out as he passed 150 runs, but he was at last run out for 190, so close to becoming the first player ever to score a double century in a one day international. Kevin Pietersen was disappointingly bowled out for just 1 run, and Andrew Strauss soon followed after being caught out for 13 runs. Paul Collingwood was run out for 15 as England's batting order began to collapse, although Andrew Flintoff manged to survive a leg before wicket appeal on 4, prompting loud cheers for the Lancastrian. He survived another appeal on 39, but his luck ran out on 61 when he was run out. Ravi Bopara was out in the same fashion for only 6 runs, then wicketkeeper Paul Nixon was bowled out for 3. England's tail end did not last for long, with Sajid Mahmood, James Anderson and Monty Panesar out for 5, 4 and 3 respectively. However, England had scored 327 all out, which was going to extremely difficult to chase down for Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Innings (328-9)

England started their defence well by bowling out Vusimuzi Sibanda for just 1 run, but Justice Chibhabha played well to score 53 before he was out. Friday Kasteni soon followed for only 5 runs and then wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor was out for a duck. Stuart Matsikenyeri scored 36 and then Elton Chigumbura rode his luck, surviving countless leg before wicket appeals from England before he was run out for 67. Sean Williams scored 28, and Gary Brent was out off of a no ball for 46. He went on to score a half century, but was caught out soon afterwards for 69. Captain Prosper Utseya was agonisingly out for 46, but Tawanda Mupariwa and Christopher Mpofu scored 22 and 1 respectively to take Zimbabwe to shock and historic victory over England.

Man of the Match

Despite being on the losing side, England batsman Ian Bell scored a fantastic 190 to help England to their total of 327 all out. He was awarded the Man of the Match but this was obviously little comfort for the loss.

Stadium Review

Only 10000 of The One and Only Dome's 50000 seats were occupied, possibly due to midweek working commitments and sickness after drinking too much alcohol following Manchester United's 7-1 victory over Roma in the Champions League Football quarter final at Old Trafford the previous evening. One spectator broke one of their arms after slipping inside the paddling pool.

How come I dont get people saying how nice my seats are :(

England lost, points for realism

The man who broke their arm should have realised they were signing away respnsibility for health upon entering the stadium...
