The women's team have anyway. They won the final and deciding test at Worcester today to win the Ashes back for the first time in 42 years.

Result

Australia 1st Innings: 131 all out (Brunt 5/47)
England 1st Innings: 289 all out
Australia 2nd Innings: 232 all out
England 2nd Innings: 75/4

England win by 6 wickets and win series 1-0.

Yeah, I saw it earlier. Here is some more information: http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/content/story/217338.html

They won the Ashes with 1-0 in the series. The first Test was narrowly drawn by England.

This is the important segment of that article: It was their first victory over Australia since December 1984, and after 42 years it meant that England regained the Ashes.

And congratulations to the England Women. :)

Great ! Congrat to England's Women Cricket Team.

:cheers

( I will say the same to England's Men Cricket Team as they r well on course to get the Ashes back....but after few days. :D )

Congrats to the england womens team. Just waiting the mens team to win back the ashes, which is very likely.

Well now I can hope for the England Women it doesn't take 42 years again to regain the Ashes. :laugh

Setting the trend for the men. :p I'm sure that both parties will walk away with the Ashes this year, and keep them for some time.

They'll keep them for 18 months at least. Certainly can't see them retaining them here in 06/07. Always perform badly over here.

We have been dissapointing in this series, the worst I have seen us play since the late 80's. Time to blood some youth. We have some great batting talent here, the bowling stocks are thin though.
:cheers

I actually think England will be stronger come the 06/07 Ashes series.
Warne Mcgrath Gilchrist Hayden Langer and Martyn will all be in there mid to late thirties by then.

Couldnt agree with you more dazza76! also saying we always perform badly over there is not a wise comment, seeing as we now have a completely different team. Players such as Flintoff, Strauss, Pieterson, Bell, Jones have all not played test cricket inn Australia. Well Jones has but we all know about the horrific injury b4 he got the chance to do anything.

Agreed, in 06/07, i think we'll do even better, without Warne, McGrath and others, the Aussie team looks significantley weaker
