With England struggling at international level the ECB has called up young star coach Iloveireland to take the captaincy and the coaching role. He will be captain/coaching Lancashire at the same time so he can 'keep youth coming through'. In a press release yesterday he said 'England just aint getting enough good young talent getting a go and I am gonna change that'.
So this is where you come in. I am gonna post the squad of Lancashire for my new series. You just choose what Lancashire player you replace (I change the name) and if you play well you might get promoted to the INT squad, if not, well you might find yourself at another club. Oh if u choose Murali or Hodge, I will tell you how they go at INT level. And youths may be added in later. You can get em then.
LASTS YEARS PERFORMANCE FOR LANCASHIRE:
FC- 2nd
Pro League (40 over O Dayers)- 6th
Challenge Throphy (OD): Runners up
Twenty Over Cup (T20): Round 1.
ENGLANDS CURRENT INT POSITION:
TEST- Close 3rd behind Pakistan and just infront of SA.
ODI- 8th and last of the formidable teams.
SQUAD:
K. Brown- I dont know much about him at the moment. He has a lot of potential and if he preforms he could be a key player in the squad.
M. Chilton- Averaging about 30 in all forms he is a handy opener. Hopefully he can do a bit better than that and do our team well.
P Horton- One of Chiltons rival for the opening spot and with a career average of 40 and averaging 45 last year with the bat in FC, hes a good man to have in your team.
S Law- Australian born he now has an English passport and is a major contributor for the club. One of the favourites to get the captaincy, he is a great cricketer and a great leader. Averaging 50 in both FC and OD, he is a very good player and a man who preforms when needed.
M Loye- A very well known player from England and for good reason. With a FC career average of 40 and averaging 55 last year he is a great batsman and a great one to open the batting or go down the order.
S Marshall- After playing 18 matches and averaging 30 in FC he could be a star or be useless. He is the in the team and could be a key for a great finish.
I Sutcliffe- A veteran in County Cricket, he is another great player battling for the opening spot. If needed he can bat down the order. Averaging 35 runs in FC hes good.
B Hodge- The first of our two INT players he is class. He needs no intro.
G Cross- After 6 matches in FC he averages 20. If Sutton hits bad form he will definately get a go.
L Sutton- Our best keeper, he will definately start in the team (unless I get a gun keeping youth). Averaging 30 in FC he is pure class and a great addition to the team.
D Cork- A great bowling AR, he will take wickets for you except with the new ball. He simply cant use it. Great to have in the team if we need the extra bowling option.
A Flintoff- Now England captain hopefully he can lead Lancashire to victory.
S Mullaney- Averaging 44 with the bat after one match. Who knows what he will come up with??
G Thompson- Simular to Mullaney, never really gets a go. Hopefully he can fire this season and win us some matches.
J Anderson- One of Englands best young bowlers, hopefully he can take us to victory.
S Chapple- A great veteran bowler (200+ FC games) and averaging 28 in FC, hopefully he can keep that average under 30.
S Croft- He hasnt taken a wicket in the 2 FC games he has played but who knows??, maybe he is good.
K Hogg- He hasnt taken many wickets in the games he has played and can only hope to improve
G Keedy- Only spinner when Murali is away. He is a pretty good bowler and is under-rated in this Lancashire team. With a dissapointing average in FC just over 30 we have to hope he can cut it down while Murali is away.
S Mahmood- Great bowler here at Lancashire with a few seasons of experience. Dissapointing average but their is definately chance of improving.
O Newby- Has played 11 FC matches and is definately one who can improve.
T Smith- A lot like Newby and hopefully he can help us win the FC CHAMPIONSHIP!!
M Muralitharan- Thats right we got the chucker. He might not get him much but I will tell you. He is a gun
