FAO All PC Members in the UK! - URGENT!

Can I also say that there is an even bigger shortage in blood for those in the ethnic minorities iirc.

It saves lives, as simple as that. My little nephew had to have 3 pints of blood when he was born, but then, he has been as greedy ever since ;)

There aren't any (on that list) in the near future for me (that are near to me). There is normally one up at the health centre quite regularly, will keep an eye out.

Tut at those of you scared of needles! You aren't scared of cramp, yet I know what I'd rather have!

I don't give blood and here's why.

I'm not afraid of needles, I can't say I like them but I'm not afraid. In fact in general I try to confront my fears anyway, you always find they aren't as bad as you think they are and that generally leads to a better life. But my Mum gave blood for many years to the point that she now has to take pills because she gave so much. I'm not going down that route. When I die I am happy for any part of me to be used if required and if any good friend or family member needs say a kidney and I am compatible then I'll be happy to donate, but I make no apologies for not giving blood.

There's no obligation to give blood. You won't be judged if you don't give blood, not by any sensible person, anyway.

Kev and Sureshot do make good points. I'm kinda glad my tattoo got me turned away last time. The only reason I went is because we had one of them preachy talks in school telling us it's nice to give blood. Sort of made me feel I had to when I really actually don't.

Try giving blood aboard then Evo, you'll be turned away even if you don't have tattoos, apparently our BSE ridden bloody isn't good enough for the rest of the world ;)

Never let yourself be forced into doing something you don't want to do. I'm not ashamed to say I hate those ads which make you feel guilty, even if they are for good causes.

It's not that you hate those ads, its just that you hate Sean Bean (he voices them), everyone hates him, its perfectly understandable he's a mahoosive..........

PS.

I'm not avoiding the swear filter its just your dirty mind! - do you see what I did here ;)

Kev, your blood is beer, all the 25 years of drinking.

It's not all beer, true it is a mixture of Beer, Wine and the good old "cuppa tea" though!

2 within a mile of me. May as well go down.

I have said continuously I will donate as soon as I reach 17. :) No idea of blood type/group whatever.

When I become old enough i'll donate blood. It's for a good cause and nothing bad will happen to me if I do it. It's win win. :D.

May I just ask, what blood type is your mum.

With rare types they offer you the chance to give blood more often ( I give blood every 16 weeks) however, you don't have to give it, Also, that is a one off, My mum has been giving blood for more than 25 years, and nothing has gone wrong (Only one time, but that was giving Platelets instead of blood)
